Un centro de I+D búlgaro está preparando una propuesta dentro del tema del programa Horizonte 2020 "Líneas de fabricación de superficies de nanotextura con propiedades mecánicamente mejoradas". El equipo busca un coordinador y socios (centros de I+D y empresas) especializados en el desarrollo de materiales avanzados y tecnologías innovadoras para obtener superficies nanoestructuradas con propiedades mecánicamente mejoradas. El objetivo es aplicar estas superficies en diferentes sectores: aeroespacial, aeronáutico y de automoción. La fecha límite de la convocatoria es el 27 de octubre de 2016.

A Bulgarian R-Y-D institution is preparing a project proposal on H2020 TOPIC: PILOT Lines for Manufacturing of Nanotextured surfaces with mechanically enhanced properties. The team seeks coordinator and partners (R-Y-D institutions and companies) involved in the development advanced materials and innovative technologies to obtain nanostructured surfaces with mechanically enhanced properties. Application of such surfaces in different sectors is expected.
Description:
Functional nanotextured surfaces and nano structured coatings have a huge potential for many sectors providing improved scratch and abrasion resistance, super hardness and mechanical resistance that rivals diamond in performance, improved wear resistance and corrosion inhibition. The proposed pilot lines should address the development, up scaling and demonstration in relevant industrial environments of reliable manufacturing processes to obtain nanostructured surfaces with mechanically enhanced properties.

The complete research-development-innovation cycle includes development, incorporating new materials and methods and/or instrumentation with real time characterization for measurement, analysis and monitoring at the nanoscale to characterize relevant materials process properties.

The action is expected to lead to a direct economic impact on the economy of the manufacturing industry as well as society, resulting from issues such as increased performance and durability of wear-intensive industrial components, reduction of infrastructure maintenance costs, and reduction of operational costs due to energy savings.

The Bulgarian R-Y-D institution is looking for coordinator and other partners with the intention to develop innovation technologies for production of high performance materials strengthened on the surface by addition of nano-sized particles. The substrate materials that will be used are steel, cast iron, magnesium alloys, etc. for tools and parts of machines production with suitable application in various fields: aerospace, aircraft and automotive industry.

The project will be two stages with a duration of 260 weeks.
Advantages and Innovations:
- a solid baseline of knowledge and skills for a future technology for production of Nanostructured coatings or nanotextured surfaces will be established through structuring and true interdisciplinary collaboration
- emergence of an innovation ecosystem around a future technology and partnership with high potential actors in research and innovation
- the implementation of nanomaterials and their application for improving scratch and abrasion resistance, super hardness and mechanical resistance, wear resistance and corrosion inhibition of materials to increase the level of robustness and repeatability of the industrial processes
- during the project coatings based on thermal spraying, chemical and electrolytic metallic coatings, PVD coatings with addition of nano-sized strengthening phases will be applied on steel, cast iron and magnesium substrates using new methods and modifications and then will be evaluated. The influence of mechanical treatment and basic heat treatment of substrate material on the coatings properties will be investigated.
