Una organización de turismo española está coordinando un proyecto con el fin de desarrollar una ruta astronómica en Europa y está preparando una propuesta para la convocatoria COS-TOUR-2015-3-04 en la segunda fase. El proyecto es una continuación de un proyecto anterior en el que se diseñó una ruta en Europa para valorizar el patrimonio astronómico. La organización busca una pyme del sector turístico y una asociación astronómica interesadas en unirse al consorcio. Los socios buscados deben proceder de países que participen en el programa COSME. El plazo para presentar expresiones de interés finaliza el 15 de junio de 2015.

Summary:
A Spanish tourism organisation is coordinating a project to develop a route on astronomic sites in Europe and is preparing a second phase proposal for COS-TOUR-2015-3-04 call. The organisation is looking for: 1) a SME in tourism sector and 2) an astronomers' association to join the consortium. The SME and association must be in a country eligible under COSME programme. The deadline for EOIs is 15th June 2015.
Description:
The proposal will be framed in the theme 2 of the COS-TOUR-2015-3-04 call, "Diversifying the EU tourism offer and products - Promoting transnational thematic tourism products", in the sub-strand "focusing on cultural or industrial heritage".

The project will be a continuation of an existing EU project, where it was drawn a route of astronomical sites in Europe, giving value to the Astronomy Heritage.

In this proposal the consortium wants to expand this route to other regions and to go further in its development, including rural accommodation and other tourist services. Furthermore, the consortium pursue to enhance the astrotourist activities under sustainable criteria, linking with its region cultural and traditional heritage. For this propose we will work to specialize the rural houses in themes related to stargazing and cultural issues.

As far as the astrotourism product is created, in this project the consortium will try to segment the market to offer a more specialized product for each market niche.

Some of the activities foreseen to develop this project are:
- Create specialized astrotourism products target to specific groups, running up innovative processes and synergies between companies
- Study about the situation of the rural accommodation in the participants regions and its relation with other sustainable tourist activities.
- Facilitate public-private meetings to work together, in the principles of the regulation of this activity (astrotourism) in natural protected spaces, because of the important increasing of this tourist product.
- Promote the product in important, international tourist fairs, as World Travel Market or ITB Berlin and to hold meetings with specialized touroperators.
- Training courses for entrepreneurs and professionals about sustainable and responsible tourism, applied to astrotourism.
- Promotional material as astronomic planisphere o similar aimed to foster our European sky knowledge to the potential tourists.

The current partnership is composed by public bodies, public authorities and SMEs from tourism and astronomy field in Spain, Bulgaria and Poland, and is looking for two additional partners, from other countries eligible under COSME programme:
1) a SME in tourism sector
2) an astronomers' association

The deadline for EOIs is 15th June 2015.
