Summary:
An international consortium, led by a French innovation agency, is preparing a proposal to answer the COS-TOURINN-2020-3-04 call. The current partners are seeking for other partners (clusters, business support centres, public authorities, etc.) with different backgrounds matching with proposal´s overall objective to create an international tourism network supporting digitalisation in SMEs. The sought partners shall be able to challenge, select, interconnect and coach innovative tourism SMEs.
Description:
The ongoing Covid-19 crisis has been showing that resilience, sustainability and digitalisation of all economic sectors are henceforth paramount and so the new cornerstones of the European post-Covid economy. Tourism has been heavily hit by the pandemic´s consequences, as global travel bans are still paralysing this sector. The isolation, the lack of organisation at the European level as well as the fault of novel digital tools and networks at the disposal of especially SMEs underpin abundantly clearly tourism´s need for renewal. This necessity entails a redraft of its basics: interconnection of European actors, creating novel dynamic, agile and resilient ecosystems, reinforcing SMEs via digital tools will be tourism´s future landmarks.
In this context, the European Commission launched the COS-TOURINN-2020-3-04 call.
An international consortium (Spain, Slovenia and France), led by a regional innovantion agency based in France, is willing to answer this challenge by submitting a project proposal. Thanks to the partners´ regions´ topography, the latter is organised around innovation in mountain and costal tourism.
In this framework, the consortium is willing to:
> reinforce SMEs innovation capacity-building
> set-up and accelerate international cooperation of actors, e.g. information and communication technology (ICT) tool in the service of a tourism SME, especially with different backgrounds but same purposes (cross-fertilisation generating innovation)
> build-up a green, sustainable, digital, resilient and inclusive ecosystem giving a new breath to European tourism and adressing EU citizens´ needs
These objectives shall be achieved thanks to a financing, coaching and accompaniment strategy for at least sixty SMEs and grounded on:
> innovation vouchers financing novel project
> peer-to-peer learning and good practice exchanges
> incubation and experimentation of innovative approaches on the ground
> matching of of different and international actors (e.g. surf school and e-learning application development) thanks to the innovation-voucher-calls
> developping new business models and jobs
To complete the consortium the French regional innovation agency is still looking for several partners: public authorities, business- and innovation support agencies, clusters and associations. Because of the proposal´s specialisation, the future partners should ideally be based in mountain and/or costal areas. Furthermore, as a cross-sectorial approach is important, the partners shall have technological differenciations. According to that, on the one hand above-mentioned organisations from the ICT, robotic, environmental and energy sectors and on the other hand tourism actors are warmely welcome to join the consortium.
The future partners will notably contribute to:
> the proposal´s elaboration and offer to the SME beneficiaries
> the selection of the SMEs (e.g. innovators and potential end-users) and projects
> the matchmaking between the actors and their follow-up
> the creation of a performant, novel and sustainable tourism network
The collaboration scheme will be a research and cooperation agreement.
The submission of expressions of interest for this profile is open until the 15th January 2021
The call´s deadline is the 11th February 2021
Advantages and Innovations:
> creation of business-friendly, innovative, sustainable and international tourism network dedicated to present new perspectives to SMEs willing to reinvent their offer to tourists
> provide coaching, financing and matchmaking services to at least 60 SME beneficiaries
> cross-fertilise and so enhance innovation thanks to a specialisation in montane and costal tourism
> creation of novel business models and jobs in the tourism sector
