Development of new techniques to reduce the allergen content in wine
Summary:
A Spanish winery is preparing a GlobalStars project proposal for R-Y-D projects under EUREKA, aimed at reducing the presence of biogenic amines in wine production without affecting wine quality. The company is looking for one Argentinean winery (SME only) to complete the consortium. The winery should carry out studies in vineyard, grape, must and wine, sampling, physical-chemical and sensorial analysis, etc.
Description:
A Spanish winery is leading a project proposal to the GlobalStars call for proposals for joint R-Y-D projects under EUREKA between Argentina and the EUREKA member and associated states Austria, France, South Africa, Spain and Turkey.

The Spanish winery is a SME with a longstanding tradition of seven generations devoted to winemaking.

The project aims to develop new techniques for vineyard and winemaking management that are compatible with the wineries´ production objectives while allowing winemakers to reduce the presence of biogenic amines without affecting wine quality. Biogenic amines are a group of nitrogen compounds that are naturally present in fermented products, including wine. However, in certain concentrations they can have negative effects, not only on the organoleptic quality of the wine but also on human health. Thus, the origin, detection, and quantity of biogenic amines in wine are extremely important for winemaking.

Within the GlobalStars initiative of EUREKA, based on the mutual consent, Argentina is determined as a privileged country to increase cooperation. Participants from Argentina and respective EUREKA member states are invited to submit joint project proposals in the fields of industrial and technological research and development in the framework of the EUREKA program. The project consortiums should consist of at least 1 company from Argentina and 1 company from one of the EUREKA member or associated countries participating in this call (Austria, France, South Africa, Spain and Turkey). Participation of research institutes/universities is welcome as partners or subcontractors according to each country´s funding regulations.

The proposal will be coordinated by a Spanish winery that is looking for an Argentine winery (SME only) to complete the consortium. The Argentine winery will provide its expertise to the project in terms of the whole wine production cycle including vineyard management and will carry out studies, sampling, physical-chemical and sensorial analysis, etc. They will also collaborate with other specialized entities in the analysis of several specific compounds.

The deadline for Applications is 22nd March 2017 and the expected duration of the project is 36 months. The deadline for EOIs is 1st March 2017.
