A Spanish university is searching for partners for a project to be submitted to the TRANSCAN-2 call with the main goal of testing different methodologies of machine learning for gene discovery, prognosis and prediction. The partners sought are experts in genomics and translational medicine.
Description:
The project consists in testing different methodologies of machine learning for gene discovery, prognosis and prediction. Their methodologies are able to unravel the discriminatory power of the genes and perform predictions with the corresponding uncertainty quantification. A biomedical robot is an ensemble of techniques coming from the applied mathematics, statistics and computer science able to learn dynamically from data and perform predictions with the corresponding uncertainty assessment.
In the field of genomics and translational medicine, the aims are the following:
1) Understanding gene function in phenotype prediction and involved pathways.
2) Explore biomedical data (big data) to understand mechanisms of disease and drug action.
3) Discover biomarkers through retrospective analysis of large collections of patient data
4) Optimize clinical trials by predicting patient responses to therapies.
5) Provide decision systems for personalized treatment, minimizing harm and toxicities.

The proposal will be submitted to the JTC 2014 ERANET TRANSCAN-2 call.
