El objetivo es estudiar y desarrollar composites ecológicos basados en nanofibras de celulosa. A Korean government funded research institute engaging in electronics and ICT-related R-Y-D is preparing a project proposal under the EUREKA project. The purpose of the project is to research and develop eco-friendly composites utilizing cellulose based nano fibre. The institute is looking for a partner in the likes of cellulose fibre fabrication especially regarding NFC(nano fibrillated cellulose) to collaborate with each other. The proposal submission deadline is at the end of March, 2016.
Description:

Cellulose, wood extract, has been drawing attention as an eco-friendly renewable material which is applicable to a wide range of industrial areas such as binder resin, stiffeners and structure materials. It is a biodegradable material but it has strong hydrophilic property so that it is hard to perform composite manufacturing process with plastic which is hydrophobic. Therefore, Research and development to solve the limitation is required. Also, it is the most favorable green material to respond tightened environmental laws so that it is accelerating market expansion.

New markets led by SMEs in the areas of packing materials, electric and electronic and vehicle industry will be realized by developing higher value added and green composites through composite manufacturing process between Cellulose and a wide range of plastics. Cellulose will be used to various materials such as high strength composite, light composite, high barrier composite and eco-friendly dispersant.

Therefore, the institute would like to research and develop cellulose with a competent partner. With a partner the institute would like to develop as follows:

1. Development of cellulose based eco-friendly composites for electronic applications
2. Development on hydrophobically modified cellulose sheet surface through chemical reaction
3. Development on NFC (Nanofibrillated cellulose) application technology to improve property and quality of fiber sheet composed of hydrophobised cellulose
4. Development on compounding recipe to apply hydrophobised cellulose composites to customized components and conduct evaluation on mechanical property of the developed materials

The name of the call is "eco-friendly composites utilizing cellulose based nano fibre " And, the institute is looking for a company or a research institute to research and develop cellulose based fibre or related research topic, cellulose fibre fabrication especially regarding NFC(nano fibrillated cellulose) under the program of EUREKA. The deadline for proposal submission is by the end of March, 2016. The deadline of the EOI will be about the beginning of February, 2016.
