Acronymed "PRE-EMPT"under Celtic Plus call, the project is about targeting the issue of "Preventive Maintenance in Automotive Powertrain". The company is looking for project partners under research cooperation agreement. They seek vehicle manufacturers to apply the developed mathematical models and optimise the data set.
Description:
As internet integration is changing the car ownership model, bringing in connectedness more and more, part of ´connectedness´ inherently relates to the use of data processing techniques in maintenance.

The Predictive Maintenance Problem: Given data streamed from a vehicle—such as diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and other vehicle parameters at the time of occurrence of the trouble codes (e.g., odometer reading, vehicle speed, engine temperature, torque, etc.), the possibility to predict an ensuing repair or a maintenance job on the vehicle will be the subject to research within the concept of smart vehicles. The Turkish company will take on the role to develop neccessary models optimising vehicle parameters related to trouble codes.

The project aims to apply methods developed within this project when the vehicle is out in the field. Partners sought are expected to apply these methods to see the outcomes of the optimisation as they already manufacture vehicles. Research cooperation is sought and the deadline for the call is 16.10.2017.
Advantages and Innovations:
There are a number of benefits obtained when the model adressing the issue described in description section.

1) Increase customer satisfaction: Fewer defects, better scheduled maintenance (not just due to odometer reading), less time in the shop.

2) Avoid a recall or initiate it sooner: Data from connected vehicles, service records, test data on parts that have been replaced, and even social media fed into predictive maintenance model. Problems identified and solved faster.

3) Optimise service delivery: Service appointments more predictable. Volume of planned and scheduled work increased. Technician provided with a "guided repair" approach. More even workforce scheduling, reduced idle time, and more cost-effective usage of service facilities.

4) Optimise the supply chain: Predicting required maintenance parts better supply chain management. No longer keeping cars overnight waiting for parts; better scheduling; space freed-up; increasing satisfaction.

5) Reduce fleet downtime: A fleet of hundreds or thousands of vehicles experiences real productivity gains, increasing OEM´s value.
