EUREKA: Development of disease prediction models based on microbiological and microclimatic particularity of vineyards.
A Spanish winery is preparing a GlobalStars project proposal for R-Y-D projects under EUREKA, aimed at reducing the use of pesticides in vineyards and to increase the sustainability of viticulture. The company is looking for one Argentinean winery (SME only) to complete the consortium. The winery should mainly participate in the selection, monitoring and management of plots within their own vineyards, winemaking, basic chemical physical and sensory analysis of wines, sampling, etc.
A Spanish winery is leading a project proposal to the Globalstars call for proposals for joint R-Y-D projects under EUREKA between Argentina and the EUREKA member and associated states Austria, France, South Africa, Spain and Turkey.

The Spanish winery is a SME located in La Rioja region in Spain well known for the quality of its wines, especially reserve and grand reserve wines.

The inadequate use of pesticides in vineyards generates problems of different nature: environmental, limitations in the commercialization of the product, oenological and even economic. In this context, the main objective of the project is the generation of new models of prediction of vine diseases by means of the integration of innovative technologies that allow to significantly reduce the use of pesticides and to increase the sustainability of viticulture. The project will optimize the efficiency of pesticide treatments, avoiding unnecessary applications, reducing associated costs and minimizing their impact on the environment. In addition, it will be possible to reduce the presence of residues of pesticides in grapes, thus increasing their quality and, therefore, the final quality of the wines.

Within the GlobalStars initiative of EUREKA, based on the mutual consent, Argentina is determined as a privileged country to increase cooperation. Participants from Argentina and respective EUREKA member states are invited to submit joint project proposals in the fields of industrial and technological research and development in the framework of the EUREKA program. The project consortium should consist of at least 1 company from Argentina and 1 company from one of the EUREKA member or associated countries participating in this Call (Austria, France, South Africa, Spain and Turkey). Participation of research institutes/universities is welcome as partners or subcontractors according to each country´s funding regulations.

The proposal will be coordinated by a Spanish winery that is looking for an Argentine winery (SME only) to complete the consortium. The Argentine winery will provide its expertise in terms of wine production and will carry out tests within their own vineyards and winemaking process as well as basic chemical physical and sensory analysis of wines, sampling and collaboration with other entities in specific R-Y-D tasks.

The deadline for Applications is 22nd March 2017 and the expected duration of the project is 36 months.
The deadline for EOIs is 1st March 2017.
