Securing security technology is absolutely critical as the security issues of vehicle communication technology can pose a life threatening danger to the driver.

A Korean government-funded research center is doing research on V2X (Vehicle-to-everything) security technology, focusing on developing cryptographic modules for vehicular environment including authentication mechanism.

The institute is developing key security technology that will be applied to both the US and Europe and at the same time, developing Korea-specific cryptographic algorithms for ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems).

This technology would be adapted in Korea ITS testbed environment, and is now available for demonstration at the prototype level OBU (On-Board Unit).

The institute is seeking for a partner for collaborative research project on V2X security technology including global standardization and developing prototype of OBU for Europe.
This project will provide a secure environment for vehicular communication and traffic management systems and will deliver a secure hardware platform technology for vehicular environments comprising:

? Road-Side Unit (RSU)
? On-Board Unit (OBU)
? Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2X) conformance test and measurement system

The consortium would like to develop OBU/RSU that satisfies both vehicle communication standard of both Europe and US.
As an output of this project they are aiming to develop Vehicle-to-Vehicle/Infrastructure (V2X) conformance test and measurement system to measure performance of vehicle communication product.
The proposer wishes to form a consortium with UK research centre and Korean company for R-Y-D project under EUREKA or Eurostars2 as a follow-up project to commercialize their output.
Target development period is 3 years and for the last 6 months of its project, the output will be tested in the site

- It is OBU(Ob-Board Unit)/RSU(Road-Side Unit) that can be applied in Europe and North America. As one system, it is easy to go into various markets
- Developed vehicle communication measuring equipment which is required for commercialization of vehicle communication technology.
