Summary:
A UK city council is seeking other city authorities / Municipal governments as partners for the Horizon 2020 call: ISSI Integrating Society in Science and Education.

The project will seek to address public participation in educational science and engage citizens by hosting participatory and experiential events across cities and regions, including input from museums, Universities and science centres.
Description:
This project addresses the Horizon 2020 call: ISSI-1-2015 - Pan-European public outreach: exhibitions and science cafés engaging citizens in science.

Public awareness and participation in educational STEM subjects is low - this project will seek to address public participation in educational science and engage citizens by hosting participatory and experiential events across cities and regions, including input from museums, Universities and science centres.

The education service within the council will serve as the main point of contact for this Horizon 2020 project. The service itself covers such areas as adult Learning and skills, early years provision, school leadership and governance, inclusion and attainment for pupils with learning difficulties/special educational needs as well as coordinating the council's 'Trading with schools' business unit.

As such, the service has been involved in a number of EU / public funded projects in the past, specifically under the ERASMUS and Marie Curie research exchange programmes.

The council's services provided to the project will be the design and delivery of interactive exhibitions and participatory events to regional participants including public feedback and dissemination of outcomes.

The city council will conduct participatory events to engage citizens in science, drawing on the experience and capacity of science museums, Higher Education Institutions, science shops, and scientific centres of excellence and will work with other city authorities to replicate these activities across the EU.

Partners sought will include other city authorities and municipalities in order to deliver public outreach exhibitions and participatory events and 'science cafes' to engage citizens in science and engineering themed activities.

The call deadline is 16th September, with all EOIs to be received by 28th August 2015. The project will be in the duration of 2-3 years.
