Summary:
The Hungarian SME has years´ long experience of developing medical tools for children with birth injuries. The aim of the planned H2020 FTI project is to further develop the movement device by improving the manufacturing process and enhance it with ICT solutions so it can be a more efficient therapy tool. The current sales are limited by the complex manufacturing method. The company is looking for a large enterprise with injection moulding expertise for optimise the manufacturing.
Description:
The Hungarian SME has developed a movement device for children with birth injuries.

The device is a patented (EU -Y- US) hemisphere shaped balance swing that helps the development of dynamic stability of the head-trunk-pelvis unit through isolated and complex vestibular stimulation. It is used as rehabilitation tool for children with movement disorders and as a development tool for healthy new-borns, children and adults - up to 80 kg.

It incorporates decades of knowledge and experience of improving dynamic stability handicapped children gained by a Foundation (which was set up by the inventor of the device in 1990). Since its first release, the demand for the device has increased tenfold without any emphasis on commercial activities limited by the production capacity (currently it sells 500 in a year across Europe and there are pre-orders for another ~5000 just through word of mouth without any special marketing activities limited by manufacturing capacity).

Furthermore, there is a lot of interest from therapy and rehabilitation centres across Europe who already use it and are demanding larger quantities with enhancements to improve the effectiveness of the therapy.

The aim of the project is to develop, pilot and commercialise the ICT enhanced device that can be mass produced reliably.
The consortium will consist of 5 partners, with 4 of them already identified (technology provider partner, piloting partner, ICT partner, commercial partner). The consortium is missing a manufacturing partner with experience in plastic injection moulding to support the manufacturing of the device.

The deadline for the targeted call (H2020-EIC-FTI) is 27 October 2020.
Deadline for EOI: 30 September 2020
Advantages and Innovations:
The company guides through the development of the child while enabling to unfold joyful capabilities, to detect in an early stage the symptoms of subsequent learning disorders, and to acquire successful movement experiences.

By developing the sense of balance, the appropriate and conscious use of it brings substantial results in the rehabilitation of babies and children born with cerebral palsy or having suffered neurological injury.

As a unique medical device, it completes the traditional balance development toolbox of the institutions.
