H2020 - FTI - Manufacturer / retailer / end user of grinding machines sought for development of a machine driven grinding and milling device for building refurbishment / demolition
Summary:
A German developer of hydraulic demolition tools submitting a proposal under the Fast Track to Innovation Pilot Call (FTIPilot-1-2015). The aim of the project is to develop a machine-driven grinding and milling device for removing thin layers and paintings from walls, ceilings and floors which are contaminated by harmful substances or radiation.
The company is looking for research co-operation with a manufacturer, retailer and/or end user of grinding machines to complete the consortium.
Description:
A German company active in the production and development of environmentally friendly, special hydraulic demolition tools is going to submit a proposal under the Fast Track to Innovation Pilot Call (FTIPilot-1-2015).

The FTI pilot supports projects undertaking innovation from the demonstration stage through to market uptake, including stages such as piloting, test-beds, systems validation in real world/working conditions, validation of business models, pre-normative research, and standard-setting. It targets relatively mature new technologies, concepts, processes and business models that need a last development step to reach the market and achieve wider deployment.

Main objective of the project is the development of a machine driven grinding and milling device for removing different thin layers from walls, ceilings and floors. Today it is prior art to perform this with hand angle grinders but due to increased safety requirements and performance (m²/h) there is a need for a machine-driven solution, especially for the treatment of hazardous or contaminated layers and paintings containing e.g. PCB (polychlorinated biphenyl), PAH (polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) or asbestos or for the demolition of nuclear installations.

As partner for manufacturer and retailer of demolition tools the German company designs and assembles the device.
Within this project there is already an announced patent and the target is now to improve the device and diamond tools for multiple markets and purpose like common demolition and refurbishment, nuclear demolition, industrial demolition and more.

The German partner will be the coordinator, contributing industrial/SME partners are sought.
There are already partners from Germany, Sweden in the consoritum.

Expertise and tasks of the requested industrial partners:
- manufacturer or retailer/expert for grinding machines
as strategic long term supplier (including wear parts business)

- manufacturer of grinding wear parts
as strategic long term supplier (special developments, wear part business)

- hydraulics expert for dimensioning and arrangement of hydraulic components like valves, orbital motors, etc. as long term supplier

- company planning specific refurbishment/demolition projects for getting tests opportunities interested in taking part as expert retailer/customer

- end user for testing the device on their own sites as demonstrator and/or retailer or customer

All partners have to be from the EU. No further German partners are required.

Deadline for expressions of interest: 15 November 2015.
Deadline for the call: 1 December 2015
Anticipated project duration: approx. 20 months
