Una empresa eslovena va a presentar una propuesta a la convocatoria "Fast Track to Innovation" (H2020-FTIPilot-2015-1). El objetivo del proyecto es desarrollar un nuevo vehículo eléctrico de categoría L7e, desde la fase de demostración hasta el producto listo para el mercado. La innovación del vehículo está en el concepto modular, que permite la variación de la base de las ruedas y el tamaño de la batería, lo que significa que el vehículo urbano puede transformarse fácilmente en un vehículo de larga distancia cambiando simplemente la parte trasera modular. Además el diseño ha sido optimizado y simplificado para reducir los costes de producción y alcanzar a una mayor población. La empresa busca dos socios (pyme o gran empresa) con experiencia en materiales ecológicos para fabricar vehículos y en I+D en el campo de vehículos eléctricos.

Summary:
Slovenian R-Y-D oriented company is going to submit a project poposal to the H2020 call Fast Track to Innovation Pilot (H2020-FTIPilot-2015-1). The main project objective is to undertake the innovative electric vehicle of L7e category from demonstration stage to the market ready product. The company is looking for 2 additional project partners among industry (SME or bigger company) with expertise in eco-materials for car-building and with R-Y-D expertise in EV (electric vehicles) development.
Description:
The vehicle´s key innovation is in its modular design concept, which enables the variation of vehicle wheelbase and size of battery package, meaning the urban city car could be easily transformed in longer distance vehicle with simple changing of the modular rear end of the vehicle. Furthermore, the vehicle design is optimized to simplification of design and production process in order to minimize the production costs addressing the affordability to wider population. The proposed project will address the issues concerning the prototype testing in the operational environment along with validations and assessments to be performed. Simultaneously the homologation documentation and procedure will be prepared. Final but very important activities will concern the dissemination of knowledge and presentation of the vehicle on different scales. The project will be completed with full commercial application available for customers.

Background to Modular Electric Vehicle Concept
The main characteristics of the innovative modular electric vehicle:
- Clean zero-emission vehicle with full electric propulsion exhibiting a low noise level and energy;
- Modular vehicle design concept to enable the transformation of urban electric car to longer distance vehicle simple by changing the rear part of the vehicle;
- Two modules of the rear part of the vehicle:
o Module with smaller battery package and shorter wheelbase of the vehicle being appropriate for city and suburbs drive,
o Module with longer wheelbase and larger battery package for longer distance drive enabling better vehicle stability and comfort to the user (reach extender),
o Changing between modules would be simple enough to perform it in only 1 minute,
o Longer module will be designed in various option configurations (two additional seats, more space for cargo, special options by request) however, still corresponding to L7e category,
o Average user living in the city or suburbs needs a urban vehicle for 90% of time thus, different management options of the rear part allows user to own both rear modules or just to rent it for a period of time;
- Design optimization of the vehicle revealing the simplest design to enable the shortest production process possible, where a production line with only 50 meters of length is envisaged.
- Design for ultra-light weight optimization
- Design to make a user-friendly product as to create a product, which would not increase global pollution and targeting a sustainable globally marketable product considering material selection process, ecological parameters like embodied energy, gas emissions (mostly carbon footprint), water consumption, recycle fraction, toxicity of the material and life hazardous waste generated in product life cycle;
- Placing user into forefront when designing and make the vehicle affordable to larger population minimizing vehicle price and costs related to its use and maintenance
- Suitable for all age groups
- Appropriate for elderly people and people with disabilities
- Jobs and industrial knowledge base preservation in EU

Project activities to be performed in order to progress from TLB6 to TLB 9 stage can be divided in 3 major groups:
- Testing and Validation of the Prototype and corresponding Technology
- Homologation Activities
- Dissemination, Demonstration and Exploitation

There are specifics with this HORIZON call. There is a recommendation that the consortium, which allows maximum 5 partners, has one mobility network, research organisation, industry partners and one company, which has not PIC number yet (first applicant for the EU funds). Therefore, the company is looking for 2 additional project partners among industry (SME or bigger company) with expertise in eco-materials for car-building and with R-Y-D expertise in EV (electric vehicles) development and have not yet obtained PIC number or will be applying for the EU funds for the first time.The internal deadline for EoIs is 16. 3. 2015.
