Un centro de investigación inglés está desarrollando una propuesta para la convocatoria LC-SC3-RES-12-2018. El objetivo es desarrollar una tecnología de energía geotérmica que garantice un funcionamiento flexible, resistente e inteligente. El centro de investigación busca un fabricante de intercambiadores de calor con tubos de calor para completar el consorcio. El socio buscado se encargará de desarrollar el intercambiador de calor para transferir el calor desde fluidos geotérmicos hasta una instalación de almacenamiento. La fecha límite de la convocatoria es el 13 de febrero de 2018 y el plazo para presentar expresiones de interés finaliza el 6 de febrero.

Summary:
An East of England research centre is developing a proposal for the LC-SC3-RES-12-2018 call. The project aims to develop technology for geothermal power to ensure flexible, resilient, intelligent and smart operation. They require a manufacturer of heat pipe heat exchangers to complete the consortium. The partner will be required to develop the heat exchanger to transfer the heat from the geothermal fluids to a storage facility.
Description:
Progressive replacement of fossil fuels used in the heat and power sectors by means of renewable energy sources can increase energy security, energy price stability as well as independence from imported sources. However, to unlock the full potential of renewable heat and power solutions to significantly contribute to the energy system, improvement of individual technologies performance and their incorporation into the energy system is needed.

The project aims to develop technology for geothermal power to ensure flexible, resilient, intelligent and smart operation.

High level objectives:

Flexible power source with:

· Ramp up or down by 30 (as below as possible)-90% of nominal capacity
· Ramp rate 15% of nominal/minute
· Spinning reserve 5% of nominal
· Maximum efficiency deviation of turbine at minimum load (30% load) 5%

Flexible heating source with:

· Ramp up or down by 0-100% of nominal capacity
· Ramp rate 25% of nominal/minute
· Spinning reserve 10% of nominal

The research centre has a lot of strong partners already involved, including a couple of geothermal plant operators in Iceland and Turkey respectively. They are now looking for a manufacturer of heat pipe heat exchangers whose role would be to develop the heat exchanger to transfer the heat from the geothermal fluids to the storage facility that will be built.
