H2020-MG-8-4-2017: Research partners and End-users (city councils, municipalities, transport companies) for a new solutions for inclusive mobility of people with disabilities using public transportation systems and services
Summary:
A research team from polish technical university is looking for partners to prepare H2020 proposal (Call: MG-8-4-2017). The aim of the project is development of public transportation with particular focus on accessibility for persons with reduced mobility. Research partners and End-users (city councils, municipalities, transport companies, organizations/communities of people with impairments) are sought.
Description:
The aim of the project is to create a catalogue of the best practices in the development of public transportation systems and improvement of transport service quality, with particular focus on accessibility for persons with reduced mobility.
The catalogue will facilitate the design and configuration of public transportation systems which are widely accessible, without barriers or obstacles for persons with mobility, sight, or hearing impairments, and improve the comfort and safety of passengers.
The work will focus on such elements and facilities of public transportation subsystems which have a determining effect on the comfort and safety of passengers with disabilities
These elements include
- bus and tram stops,
- vehicles,
- passenger information centers and systems,
- tickets and fees.
It is also planned to prepare guidelines for the interfaces of mobile applications supporting the use of public transportation, taking into account the requirements and special needs of people with disabilities.
The authors intend to create a set of standards for passenger information systems, including the content, level of detail, and form of the information about the transport system taking into account sight and hearing impaired passengers.
The target group of the project results will include institutions involved in the development and functioning of the public transportation services as well as the users of the services (with particular emphasis on passengers with impairments).
Institutions managing the transport system request strategic data (usually generalized data). System users, who have an operating approach, will be interested in more detailed data about the infrastructure, vehicles, or passenger information systems. The level of detail and the type / form of information will be particularly important for people with reduced mobility.

Proposed main tasks/workpackages:
1. Survey and analysis of existing standards, solutions and best practices in city public transportation system concerning people with disabilities.
2. Preparation of catalogue of the best practices in the development of public transportation systems and improvement of transport service quality, with particular focus on accessibility for persons with reduced mobility.
3. Drawing up of guidelines for the interfaces of mobile applications supporting the use of public transportation, taking into account the requirements and special needs of people with disabilities.
