H2020-MSCA-IF: Looking for an expert bio-researcher interested in knowledge discovery and precision medicine.
A Spanish SME specialized in computational biology and bioinformatics seeks an experienced bio-researcher wishing to apply for the MSCA-IF-2017 call to join a translational research project aimed at developing a new platform for knowledge discovery and precision medicine. This platform will integrate the advances in multiple omics (multi-omics), systems biology and machine learning algorithms.
The translational research project is aimed at integrating the advances in multiple omics (multi-omics), systems biology and machine learning algorithms in a new platform for knowledge discovery and precision medicine.

With the advent of the post-genomic era, high-throughput technologies revolutionized the way in which omics is performed and it is now commonly agreed that a third revolution is currently raised in the field. Particular attention should be paid to personalized and precision medicine to develop more efficient tools for the integration and analysis of knowledge and multi-omics of complex diseases, and associated clinical data and metadata.

The project will be developed in a multidisciplinary group of investigators in a bioinformatic laboratory setting of ten individuals, including biologists, computer engineers, professional programmers, data analysts, and a scientific project manager. The team has extensive expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS), molecular evolution and evolutionary biology; and unique expertise in the development of bio-databases, state-of-the-art software design and computational pipelines for high-throughput techniques in industrial scenarios, global marketing and commercialization of novel bioinformatics software-based solutions.

The company also counts with a cluster of servers to host the company´s computational infrastructure of databases and pipelines where their scientific services are based. With a strong research background, the company participates as a full partner in several H2020-MSCA consortia and performs fundamental and applied research.

They seek for a candidate to apply for the Marie S.-Curie Individual Fellowships (H2020-MSCA-IF-2017) call in the Society and Enterprise Panel [MSCA-IF-EF-SE], whose deadline is on September-14th. The objective of this panel is to facilitate career moves between the academic and non-academic sectors and to open attractive career opportunities for researchers outside academia, and its funding range was of ca. 36% in the last call.

Applicants must comply with the requirements settled by the MSCA-IF-EF-SE call: (1) At the date of the call deadline (14-Sep-2017) the applicant will be in possession of a doctoral degree or has at least four years of full-time equivalent research experience. This full-time equivalent research experience is measured from the date when a researcher obtained the degree entitling him/her to embark on a doctorate, either in the country in which the degree was obtained or in the country in which the researcher is recruited, even if a doctorate was never started or envisaged; (2) The applicant must not have resided or carried out the main activity in Spain for more than 36 months in the 5 years immediately before the call deadline.
The ideal candidates are researchers that comply with the requirements and that are domain experts (e.g. molecular biologists, biotechnologists, biochemists, pharmacists, medical doctors) with demonstrated skills in translational research oriented to clinical diagnosis. Research experience in clinical omics is highly recommendable. The candidate must be highly motivated, be an independent and critical thinker while working as part of a team, possess excellent communication, and data presentation skills.

Documents to be submitted and deadline for EOIs - CV and cover letter prior to June 26th 2017.
