Un instituto de investigación alemán busca socios especializados en tecnología de membrana, especialmente en el área de tecnologías médicas, para presentar un proyecto a la convocatoria Tests beds de innovación abierta para superficies y membranas nanohabilitadas del programa H2020. El objetivo es mejorar y combinar el estado de las tecnologías físicas actuales para instalar un test bed de innovación abierta con líneas capaces de fabricar superficies nanohabilitadas. Asimismo se instalará un test bed de innovación abierta sobre capas nanoporosas. La fecha límite de la convocatoria es el 22 de enero de 2019 y el plazo para presentar expresiones de interés finaliza el 17 de enero del mismo año.

A German research institute looks for partners experienced in membrane technology esp. in medical technology areas for a project under the H2020 Call Open Innovation Test Beds for nano-enabled surfaces and membranes. Aim of the project is to scale up and combine the state of existing ´physical´ technologies to install an open innovation test bed with lines capable to manufacture nano-enabled surfaces. Also an Open Innovation Test Bed will be installed to emphasise on nano-porous layers.
Description:
A German research institute for chemical technology is going to submit a proposal under the H2020 Call Open Innovation Test Beds for nano-enabled surfaces and membranes.

Main outcome of the project will be the up-scale and combination of existing ´physical´ technologies to install an open innovation test bed with lines capable to manufacture nano-enabled surfaces especially in the fields of:
· Laser structuring
· Plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition
· Physical vapor deposition
· Plasma etching

These test beds will be made available to industry and interested parties to use services for the design, development, testing, safety assessment, and upscaling of new nano-enabled surfaces and membranes.

The porous layers can be used for micro- or ultrafiltration. The main difference between micro- and ultrafiltration lies in the different pore sizes and in the different membrane structure such as the materials and the filter materials used. Filtration through membranes with a pore size <0.1 microns is usually called ultrafiltration, while the filtration at pore sizes> 0.1 microns is commonly referred to as microfiltration.

Both are purely physical (mechanical) membrane separation processes. The methods separate according to the principle of mechanical size exclusion (filtration principle), which means that all particles in the fluids that are larger than the membrane pores are retained by the membrane. The preferred fields of application are:

- Solid separation
- Oil-water separation
- Activated sludge separation in biology - Membrane Bio-Reactor (MBR)
- Preconcentration of suspensions
- Separation of organic molecules
- Separation of endotoxins and pyrogens or sterilization in the pharmaceutical industry
- Recovery of coating colors in the paper industry
- Degreasing bath
- Concentration of electrocoating
- Concentration of water-soluble printing inks and varnishes
- Treatment of surface water

The partner must be a SME working in the field of membrane technology with a special focus on medical technology areas. Tasks of the requested partners will be testing and evaluation of the test bed as well as training.
