A research team from a Greek research center is preparing a project proposal for H2020-NMBP-2016-2017, with a deadline at 19 January 2017. The project aims to the further development of a novel micro-nano-bio integrated system platform based on the use of plasma nanotextured microfluidics. The team is seeking a university with expertise in the design of pilot systems, a hospital of pathogen diseases to run the testing, and SMEs with expertise in diagnostics for producing the system.
Description:
The focus of this project is on further development into a clinical setting of novel MNBS (Micro-Nano-Bio integrated System) platforms, techniques and systems that have already been proven in a laboratory setting. The main technology of the proposed platform(s) will be based on the use of plasma nanotextured microfluidics and its application for diagnostics in point of care, aiming to capture cells such as bacteria in highly efficient manner, DNA amplification and DNA purification. Additionally, modules will be connected with detectors/sensors for diagnostics.

The R-Y-D activities of the project will be divided in the following sections:
1. Plasma nanotextured microfluidics in lab
2.Design and fabricate larger lab on chip incorporating different functionalities
3. Design and manufacturing of pilot system
4. Clinical data harvesting
5. Preclinical phase
6. Early clinical testing

The project will apply plasma nanotextured highly binding or completely non- binding microarrays and microfluidics in health care sector by designing and fabricating larger lab on chip incorporating several functionalities that are essential for the diagnostics.

The team is seeking a university with expertise in the design and manufacturing of pilot systems to be involved in preclinical and clinical studies of diagnostic point of care systems, SMEs with expertise in diagnostics for pathogen diseases to be involved in the production of the proposed diagnostic system, and a hospital active in pathogen diseases to run the testing of the system.
