El departamento de ingeniería civil e industrial de una universidad italiana está preparando una propuesta para el programa Interreg Europa Central 2020, eje prioritario 4, objetivo 4.2 (fecha límite: 13 de abril de 2015). El objetivo es desarrollar un sistema de entrega de mercancías en áreas urbanas para reducir ineficiencias y personalizar el transporte mediante el uso de una nueva herramienta de simulación. La nueva herramienta permitirá analizar nuevas políticas y tecnologías para garantizar un mejor uso de las infraestructuras urbanas, espacios de entrega y localización de plataformas de consolidación y transbordo, así como una gestión satisfactoria del nuevo servicio de transporte multimodal de mercancías en un área urbana determinada. Se buscan administraciones públicas (ayuntamientos) para desarrollar casos de prueba y transportistas que ofrezcan información y soporte.

Description:
The Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering of an important Italian University is preparing a proposal for the Interreg Central Europe 2020, Priority Axis 4, Specific Objective 4.2. "To improve coordination among freight transport stakeholders for increasing multimodal environmentally-friendly freight solutions"

The aim of the proposal is twofold. First, to develop a new transport system to reduce the inefficiencies in urban freight distribution. Secondly, to help public administrations and logistics companies to personalize the features of the new transport system to the reference urban areas needs, testing and improving the goods delivery policies, by using a simulation tool purposely developed that allows the comparative evaluation of different transport systems and policies. The new transport system concerns the delivery of goods within a urban area starting from a distribution centre or a freight village where the goods are packaged into modular units, in function of their destinations, addressed to one or more customers. The system transports these modular units to and from the destination through at maximum three steps each served by suitable carriers. The first step refers to the trip from a freight village to a urban transshipping platform inside the urban area: several modules are consolidated in a bigger one and moved by a traditional carrier. This step sometimes, if the distribution center is within the urban area, is skipped. The second step refers to the transport of the modular units to the destination addresses: it is served by a fleet of small slim electric intelligent vehicles endowed with a robotized forklift for automatic loading unloading of the freight modular units. This vehicle is a result of the FP7 FURBOT project. The third step refers to the event some receiver asks to be served door to door: robotized ponies are used for the consignee.
A simulation tool will be developed that allows to assess new policies and technical solutions studied to ensure a better use of urban infrastructures, delivery spaces, location of consolidation and transhipping platforms as well as satisfactory management of the new proposed multi-modal freight service in a given urban area.
