Una universidad italiana está interesada en presentar una propuesta al programa Interreg Italia-Austria. El proyecto tiene como objetivo establecer una red de investigación para optimizar el rendimiento deportivo de esquiadores mediante un enfoque multidisciplinar que incluye ciencias del deporte, psicología del deporte, genética y nutrición. La universidad busca una pyme austríaca para formular complementos dietéticos personalizados (especialmente para el cuidado de huesos y articulaciones) y mejorar el rendimiento de los esquiadores reduciendo el riesgo de lesiones. La fecha límite para responder a esta búsqueda de socios es el 20 de marzo de 2016.

Summary:
An Italian university will submit as lead partner a project proposal to Interreg programme Italy-Austria. The project will establish a research network for the optimization of the athletic performances of skiers through a multidisciplinary approach including sport sciences, sport psychology, genetics, nutrition. They are looking for an Austrian SME for the formulation of personalised dietary supplements, aimed at improving athletic performance and reducing the risk of injuries among skiers.
Description:
The project main objective is to strengthen cross border research capacities and knowledge exchange through the establishment of a stable network of partners with various competences in the fields of sport sciences, sport psychology, genetics, nutrition, aimed at studying the best ways to optimize the performances of athletes and sportsmen, in particular as regards alpine and nordic skiing.
Mountain sports and their related economic, social and cultural implications represent a relevant sector of the economies of the regions involved in the programme (tourism, wellness, health...). In this context, the project aims at establishing a network able to share competences and transfer knowledge, in order to develop guidelines and training programmes to enhance the performance of sportsmen. Target groups will be defined at different levels: top-level athletes, amateur sportsmen, tourists, etc.
The project will have positive impacts on different sectors, such as tourism (active holidays and green tourism are key aspects to develop the tourism sector in a sustainable and innovative way), public health (sporty people means healthy people, less affected by pathologies such as obesity or cardiovascular diseases, with considerable reduction of costs of public health systems intervention), education (project results will be spread among sport high schools of the programme area).
The consortium includes an Italian university with expertise in sport psychology (with the task of studying the effects of auditory feedback in optimizing alpine skiers´ performances), an Austrian university with competences in biomechanics (to evaluate the effects of sound perception in the definition of sportsmen´s movements and actions), an Italian SME with expertise in genetics (with the task of studying the impact of genetic profile on athletic performances and tendency to injuries), an Italian university with expertise in sport sciences (to develop training programmes on the basis of the results of other partners´ studies, in order to optimize sports performances, reduce injuries, develop an appropriate diet).
The project will develop a theoretical model that will be tested/validated on different targets: top level athletes, amateur skiers, tourists and general public. Foreseen outputs will be: scientific publications, dietary and training programmes for sportsmen, dietary and training suggestions for general public (e.g. tourists attending skiing courses etc.), to be disseminated by the means of apps, brochures etc.
The consortium is looking for an Austrian SME established in the following Laender: Carinthia, Tyrol, Salzburg. The requested partner must have experience in the formulation of dietary supplements in sports and medical fields (in particular bone and joint care). Its tasks in the project will be the development of active ingredients and the formulation of personalised dietary supplements based on genetic profile, aimed at improving the athletic performance and at reducing the risk of injuries among skiers. The partner will be also involved in networking and dissemination activities foreseen in the project (organisation of / participation in workshops and conferences).
The project proposal will be presented to Interreg Italy-Austria programme, axis 1 (research and innovation). For private enterprises the contribution can cover max 85% of the eligible expenses. The relevant call will be launched at the end of February 2016. Projects can have a maximum budget of 1.000.000 -Y-euro;, and a maximum duration of 30 months.
