Una empresa italiana especializada en comunicación y seguridad busca socios con el fin de desarrollar un proyecto dentro del programa LIFE. El objetivo es desarrollar una nueva solución de gestión de residuos para mejorar los métodos de recogida de basura y hacer un mejor seguimiento de la cantidad y tipo de residuos generados por cada usuario final. Dependiendo de la actividad a realizar, la empresa busca socios en Grecia y Eslovenia (empresas de informática y universidades) y la UE (otras entidades empresariales). La fecha límite de la convocatoria es el 12 de septiembre de 2016 y el plazo para presentar expresiones de interés finaliza el 15 de julio.


LIFE Programme: Italian company seeks partners to develop its project proposal for innovative waste management solutions
Italian company active in communication -Y- security is seeking partners to develop a project proposal under the Life Programme. The project is aimed at developing a new waste management solution able to improve the methods of collecting garbage and to trace in a better way the quantity and type of waste produced by each end-user. Depending on the activity to be performed, partners are sought in Greece, Slovenia (ICT companies, universities) as well as in the EU (other business entities).
The project aims to develop a new device that will convert existing waste containers into "smart" bins that will use a dedicated wireless IP network for exchange data about material collection. The new bin will monitor the weight of each container and will send "full" condition alarm to the central waste collection management, in order to optimize the path of the trucks used for picking up the garbage. Each end user will know the state of its waste container by means of a dedicated smartphone app, that will also allow requests for maintenance or complaints.
More in particular, SAVET is proposing a solution for improving the diversified harvest of household waste, and accelerate the transformation from a linear extraction-use-throw model of production and consumption to a circular one.
A wireless network will link all bins, and will become the mean for tracing waste path, from each single rubbish placement until treatment plants.
New "smart" bins will send collection data and working events to a central server. Here they will be processed by innovative automatic SAVET software algorithms, in order to extract the key parameters needed from municipalities for enhancing the service management and optimizing bins distribution.
Furthermore, an innovative web portal, provided with software tools for raising awareness on waste issues, a dedicated mobile application for enhanced support, an Automatic Vehicle Location system with extended features for emptying travels, will complete the eco-solution. SAVET will be demonstrated through a pilot test that will last for 12 months. It will concern a consumer base of about 1000
citizens. Bimonthly surveys will be conducted over households involved in field trials, in order to collect feedbacks from people, which will act as co-developer of solution.
The project will be submitted under LIFE Environment -Y- Resource Efficiency (sub-programme for Environment)

The company is looking for the following partners, preferably located in Greece or Slovenia:
- ICT: companies experienced in software development, with former experience in Life programme;
- Project development: Universities with sound experience in waste management projects , already familiar with Life programme.

Other companies and associations that will be in charge of the dissemination activity and located in the European Union are also sought.

The desired coordinator of the project is a University with proven experience in waste management.
