Cuatro universidades han decidido unir sus fuerzas y ofrecer el primer programa de máster en paleontología/geología. El consorcio busca socios internacionales públicos o privados (empresas, ONGs, ONL, etc.) con una sólida experiencia en los campos de exploración petrolera, perforación, periodismo científico, turismo cultural y medioambiente (análisis de impacto) para acoger estudiantes y realizar prácticas, impartir cursos para el máster u ofrecer apoyo financiero. La fecha límite de la convocatoria y el plazo para presentar expresiones de interés finaliza el 28 de febrero de 2018.

The consortium is actually looking for private/public international partners (companies, NGO´s, NPO´s, etc.) with strong expertise in fields such as petroleum exploration, drilling, scientific journalism, cultural tourism and environmental companies (impact assessment) to welcome master students for internships, to give courses for the Master or to give their financial support.
Description:
Four Universities have combined their resources to offer the first joint Master programme in paleontology/geology in order to meet the international demand for qualified geoscience graduates with dedicated training and experience in fundamental and applied palaeontology, including geoconservation and geoheritage.

This European Master´s degree is designed in such a way as to develop in participants a global vision of the palaeontology, paleobiology and its applications.

The goal of the master is to specialize in basic research in palaeobiology, applied palaeontology (stratigraphy, basin analysis and reservoir, environmental paleontology), and science communication, focusing on geoheritage.

Professional profile in Palaeobiology : Future scientists following the Palaeobiology profile will commonly find careers in the following organizations: · Universities, Geological survey´s, National History Museum´s (conservator), through a sound preparation for a doctorate or lecturer, technician, research assistant, conservator; · Small and intermediate size consulting companies working in the field of engineering geology or hydrogeology; · International engineering companies working in the energy, traffic and waste sector; · Environmental agencies and cooperatives with management positions. Professional profile in Applied Palaeontology: Graduates holding a Master´s Degree in Applied Palaeontology are qualified to work in the following areas: · Consulting or project based work in the area of natural resource exploration and extraction (oil-, gas and mineral prospecting) for international companies, · Consulting or project based work in the area of environmental impact assessment (including anthropogenically mediated global change), environmental monitoring, and bioremediation · Geotechnical investigations for consulting companies, public nonprofits or private insurance used for geotechnical decisions and risk assessment, · Consulting work in civil engineering for groundwater management or geotechnical evaluation, · Research with a Doctorate leading to a career in industry or academic research. Professional profile in Geoconservation: After the conclusion of the Geoconservation programme, students may enter: · Staff of protected areas, natural reserve and geoparks, as manager, guide, presenter, · municipalities, public institutes, technical offices, schools and universities as consultant in local sustainable development or facilitator; · Public authority service (national and local) on urban planning projects, · Research towards a doctorate, · Museums - as science communication and exhibition manager Expected cooperation partner activities : -Sample of recruitment action: · to communicate their employment and internship offers to the contact person · to present its activities, specificities and employment opportunities during workshops · to give full attention to graduates applying for an internship or employment -Sample of teaching and research action: · to appoint one or several staff members to participate in teaching activities, and/or presentations, testimonials during workshops organized in the frame of the master´s course; with the status of individual contractor / or benevolent contributor on an occasional basis, according to the availability of its managerial or senior executive staff members. · to welcome Master students for 2-month or 5 months internships and to pay/compensate students´ internships according to the institutional and national regulations between the parties signing the internship agreement -External partners may potentially give financial support the development of the European Master programme. In this perspective: · allocate part of its apprenticeship taxes to the consortium according to institutional and national regulations · provide mobility scholarships for the students -External partners are invited in the Advisory Board which is an external board developed by the consortium for external quality assurance in order to control on a regular basis full integration, the quality and the relevance of the programme. The role of the advisory board is to provide assistance and vision to the programme board on: · academic content of the programme, · promotion and public relations for the programme, · annual joint workshops events organized by the programme, · employability of the graduates, · professional networks related to the programme, · work placement opportunities
