El proyecto se divide en tres fases: preparación de materias primas, estudio de la fermentación de las materias primas y comprobación de la eficacia del proceso de fermentación en un laboratorio y planta piloto. La empresa busca investigadores interesados en continuar con el desarrollo e implementar la tecnología.

Summary:
The R-Y-D-performing SME from Bucharest, working in the field of environmental protection field, developed a technology which enables the innovative and decentralised production of biogas by macro-algae, manure and vegetable waste. The company is looking for research partners for a further development and implementation of their technology.
Description:
The Romanian R-Y-D-performing company was established 2002. The company has as main activity the production and commercialization of water treatment and purification equipment, but recently is interested in decentralized production of biogas and has developed an innovative and efficient technology for this process.
Biogas is a green energy resource that can be produced using biodegradable waste and vegetal compounds, reducing the surface for waste disposal and fossil fuel using. It has a high heating value and burns completely in neutral atmosphere. In Eureka-Danube call we will developed a process for biogas production using mixture macro-algae and biodegradable waste.
Macro-algae is a big problem especially in summer when booming due to the favourable conditions of temperature and nutrients. These macro algae invade beaches and creates numerous problems. After collection they are generally deposited in municipal landfill. This means high costs for transport and storage.
Through this project we aim to identify an effective way of capitalization of algae by obtaining biogas. As raw materials we plan to use algae with animal manure and crop residues (especially duckweed).
The project will have three stages: preparation of raw materials, the study of fermentation of raw materials and testing the efficiency of fermentation process on a laboratory and pilot plant.
The algae will be washed and desalted, the process will be closely monitored to optimize the time of desalination and water flow used. Vegetable waste (especially duckweed) will be chopped in various sizes. It will make anaerobic digestion tests for each raw material separately but in different mixture ratios to identify the optimum mixture, optimal time of biodegradation and working conditions for biogas production.
Finally it will provide a pilot plant for industrial applications where will be optimizing the fermentation process for generating biogas.

A Romanian SME are looking for research partners that can: - develop simultaneous with us a process and an installation for biogas production using raw material a mixture of macro-algae and biodegradable waste (manure, vegetable wastes, duckweed). - perform control of process parameters and propose the plan of automation and SCADA system and provide the component for automation control of process parameters. - possible partners are mainly SME´s and R-Y-D performing companies from the field of energy efficiency and renewable energy universities. Additionally, the possible partners are universities and R-Y-D institutions. The tasks to be performed and/or the capacities provided by the partner sought are: - R-Y-D capacities in the field of biogas production; - Analysis facilities like screening possibilities and metabolic analysis; - to provide the component for automation control of process parameters.
