Este material se emplea en aislamiento, reparación y reconstrucción de edificios y se basa en residuos de bosques de coníferas: ramitas y agujas, agua y almidón de patata. La universidad busca socios del sector de la construcción con el fin de establecer acuerdos comerciales con asistencia técnica.

An university from Latvia involved in technical education has invented a thermal insulation material from granulated sawdust. The invention might be applied to construction industry, especially to insulation materials. The university is looking for commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Description:
Building insulation materials are the building materials which form the thermal envelope of a building or otherwise reduce heat transfer.
Insulation may be categorized by its composition, form, structural contribution, functional mode, resistance to heat transfer, environmental impacts, and more. The choice of which material or combination of materials is used depends on a wide variety of factors. Some insulation materials have health risks, some so significant the materials are no longer allowed to be used but remain in use in some older buildings such as asbestos fibers
The present invention pertains to the construction industry, particularly to the insulation materials. This material could be used for insulation of various type buildings on their construction, repair and reconstruction time. The insulation material of granulated needle-bearing twig could be made from coniferous forest residues: fine twigs and needles (greenery), water and potato-starch.
University is looking for commercial agreement with technical assistance in order to find an organization that would be interested to use this new material in construction industry.
Advantages and Innovations:
The mentioned insulation material of granulated needle-bearing twig is natural and environmentally friendly during its life cycle. For producing that material are used the residues of coniferous forest, that are not currently being used rationally. The insulation material of granulated needle-bearing twig could be used easily also in non-standard constructions as well as in horizontal, vertical and inclined planes. The optimal needle pellet size is 5-15 mm.
