Esta solución de suspensión de aire más compacta, sencilla y económica se aplica en suspensiones delanteras y traseras de bicicletas, motocicletas, coches, autobuses, camiones, trenes, vehículos militares, coches de carreras, etc. La solución, con dos circuitos de aire, uno de baja presión y el otro de alta presión, reduce el consumo de energía y permite el control en tiempo real de la llanta del vehículo, aumentando el rendimiento, confort y seguridad. El investigador busca socios del sector de automoción con el fin de establecer acuerdos de licencia o cooperación técnica.

Summary:
A Romanian researcher has developed a solution for shock absorbers equipped with cylindrical actuators and for their control. The solution of air suspension, more compact, simpler and cheaper is applicable on front and rear suspensions of bikes, motorcycles, cars, buses, trucks, trains, military and racing vehicles. Licensing or technical cooperation agreements are sought with partners from automotive sector.
Description:
The inventor is first senior researcher since 1990, with 43 years experience in automotive research area. He worked 30 years to Automotive Research Institute Dacia - Renault and 13 years to the Institute of Solid Mechanics of the Romanian Academy. He is the author and owner of two European patents: for self-adjustable shock absorber, with self- correcting damping characteristic, having curved, cylindrical and planar filling valves and the automotive self-adjustable damper with self-correcting damping characteristic. Also, more than 30 scientific papers, as unique or first author, were published at international and European automotive congresses.
The proposed solution, easiest realizes by replacing the dust shield with a pneumatic cylinder, fastened on the rod and sliding closing the area between it and the outer cylinder, by a seal element. The seal is mounted in an annular body, fastened on the outer cylinder of the shock absorber and filling it with compressed gas/air at proper pressure.
In opposition with other solutions, the new solution has buoyant active area defined by the unlimited size of the annular body with seal elements, fastened against the outer cylinder. It has advantages confers by easiest possibility to apply on any kind of shock absorbers equipping rear or front suspension. The front strut air solution, eliminates the bearing so giving important cost reducing.
Also, the solution with two air circuits, one of low and one of high pressure, reduces energy consumption and gives possibility of vehicle trim real time control, improving performances, comfort and the transport safety.
The theoretical and practical research results give a wide applicability in road and aerial vehicle suspensions, from simple models to sophisticated ones.
The inventor is looking for partners from automotive sector to conclude licensing or technical cooperation agreements.
The market potential refer to suburban utility vehicle (SUV), light trucks, busses, trucks, high class cars, military and off road vehicles, in order to eliminate the disadvantages produced by high load variation, bad roads. The same, for speed and competition vehicles reducing the body-ground clearance to the optimal values and thus improving the aerodynamic coefficient and stability.
Advantages and Innovations:
The solution gives important advantages comparative to known ones, realized with rubber sleeves or bellows, respectively:
- More than 3 times cheaper especially for steering axles, eliminating the metallic spring, the pan spring and the bearing;
- Can work 3 times more increased pressure, the rubber sleeves/ bellows work under 9 bar pressure
- More reliable due to the metallic cylinder;
- Applicability at any kind of shock absorber without any special preparation;
- By using displacement and pressure transducers and equipment of control and command, it becomes an active suspension.
