Un centro de investigación español del campo de evolución humana ofrece su experiencia en análisis de elementos traza e isótopos mediante espectrometría de masas inorgánica avanzada, que se aplica a una amplia variedad de materiales y consigue límites de detección muy bajos e importantes ventajas respecto a las técnicas actuales. El centro ofrece la posibilidad de desarrollar microanálisis con una resolución espacial inferior a 10 micras, que combina con propiedades pseudo no destructivas, siendo muy atractivo en electrónica, joyería, geología, arqueología o análisis forense. Se buscan industrias, universidades y centros de investigación interesados en desarrollar nuevas aplicaciones y establecer acuerdos de investigación, cooperación técnica y servicio.

Description:
The Spanish public research centre is devoted to scientific research in the field of human evolution, it is active in archaeological excavations worldwide and responsible for the curation of archaeological and paleontological collections. Additionally it makes use of its expertise to develop innovation services with and for scientific and industrial communities.

The technology offered results from the innovation actions of creating synergetic methodologies combining the advantages of world-class mass spectrometry instruments (MC-ICP-MS and ICP-HR-MS - Multi Collector and High Resolution Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry), with laser ablation and other atomic spectrometry techniques, proper physical sample preparation and a dedicated Clean Laboratory.

The Spanish centre provides the possibility to develop microanalyses with a spatial sampling resolution below 10 micra, combined with pseudo-non-destructive properties, which is very attractive in electronics, jewellery, geology, archaeology or forensics. Relevant isotope reference materials (Mg, Cu, Ni, Sr, Th, U) ready for application in the development of new applications are available. The offered technology has applications in several fields:

· Exploration studies: Radionuclide migration paths in fractured rock can be led to appreciate the effect of drilling. Sensitive multielemental mapping techniques are used to determine the distribution of such (ultra)trace elements in core profiles.
· Enhanced oil recovery and shale gas studies: Electrokinetic phenomena applied to enhance oil recovery from sand reservoirs. ICP-MS solutions for controlling the clay element concentration.
· Chemicals, semiconductors and materials: Control of trace impurities in materials and chemicals, including semiconductors. Sorting out of spectroscopic interferences on key contaminant elements (e.g. P, Ti).
· Metal detection in crystals: Lead analysis in zircon mono crystals, metal contaminant quantification in diluted liquid crystal.
· Nuclear safety: Determination of uranium isotopes in urine from workers of nuclear plants or from military personnel.
· Geology/Archaeology: Dating, palaeoclimatic studies, provenance studies.


The research centre is looking for companies, research organisations and / or public entities interested in developing innovative applications using the technology offered. The objective is to apply and optimize the mentioned facilities for new and innovative applications, extending the center´s network of research contacts and developing new international collaborations and innovation projects. Research, technical and services agreements are sought.
