The 5-year French SME is specialised in genotoxicology (field of the toxicology evaluating the DNA damage). It offers a postlabelling method for detection of DNA adducts. The method enables to evaluate the impact of pollutants on DNA. Due to its high sensitivity and versatility, the method may be applied to 1) The assessment of environmental impacts (disruption of biological systems in association to genotoxic pollutants (Carcinogenic Mutagenic Reprotoxic products); Markers of the biological effective dose in all matrices (water, air, soil)), 2) The studies on human health (Molecular epidemiology: Environment, health, food...; Occupational health and biomonitoring) or 3) A better understanding of the mechanisms of toxicity (mechanisms of genotoxicity on a wide range of biological models: animal / cell / DNA; Toxicological screening...).

DNA adduct analysis is a very early, relevant and integrative biomarker of genotoxicity that can complete advantageously the regulatory guidelines in the field. Indeed, DNA adducts are considered as a molecular signature of numerous genotoxic chemicals like environmental pollutants. Contrary to the other methods, the postlabelling method is versatile and can be applied on DNA of any origin, from mechanistic in vitro studies to most sentinel species in environmental biomonitoring.
