Un grupo de investigación italiano ha desarrollado un ensayo físico y un equipo para la adquisición remota del estado físico de un transpondedor de identificación por radiofrecuencia (RFID) equipado con sensores. Esta solución consigue una sensibilidad muy alta a los cambios espectrales con un sistema de bajo coste y baja demanda energética. El sistema consta de un lector físico y uno o más transpondedores. El grupo de investigación busca socios industriales con el fin de establecer acuerdos de licencia o comercialización con asistencia técnica.

Summary:
A South Italy research group has developed a physical test method and equipment able to remotely acquire the physical status of an RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) transponder equipped with sensors. The offered solution achieves a very high spectral changes sensitivity with a small footprint, low-cost, low-energy demanding system. The proposer is looking for industrial partners interested in license agreement or commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Description:
The research group, belonging to an important italian research institution, is active in the development of novel interface systems applied to single active electronic devices or arrays of sensing elements fabricated through low-cost processing techniques.
The RFID (radio frequency identification) technology is nowadays widely diffused but cheap and accurate remote sensing systems based on the RFID technology are still under development. They usually are quite expensive like non-sensing RFID platforms.
The purpose of the solution is to bring to the end user the capability to probe the physical properties of an item while interrogating an RFID transponder attached to it without being in contact with the item itself.
The system is composed by a physical reader and one or more transponders.
The research group is looking for an industrial partner able to design and manufacture radio-frequency identification systems, electronic equipment and/or sensing systems giving support in engineering the solution.
For this technology, the research group has applied for a patent in Italy, aims at extending the intellectual property to other European countries and is interested in the exploitation of the proposed solution by bringing it to the market.
The international cooperation envisaged with the partner sought would help the team to further investigate and test the proposed technology, and possibly lay the groundwork for commercialization.
Advantages and Innovations:
The main advantages of the solution are:
- the possibility to overlap it to the existing systems,
- the small footprint,
- the low costs,
- the high accuracy,
- the portability of the reader.
The probing technique can make the system easily adaptable to the physical properties of a wide variety of sensors and has still not been employied in commercial equipments.
The more the necessity of the integration of batteries or sophisticated RF chips on the transponder´s board is avoided thus, the cost of the tag is limited.
