Description:
A Dutch SME introduces a software solution to characterise product excitation sources independent of a component test bench. This source characterisation can be used to predict sound -Y- vibration levels using numerical, experimental or hybrid models of the target structure. For the first time, it is possible to design components on sound -Y- vibrations in an early stage of development.

The methods used are:

·In-situ source characterisation, characterising source excitations using blocked forces.
·Dynamic Sub-structuring, allowing the coupling of numerical and measured models
·Transfer Path Analysis, which is used to predict sound -Y- vibration levels of interest.

The application is nearly without limitation. One can for example derive component targets for suppliers. The amplitudes derived are such that assembly, once the components are installed, performs to the requested requirements. The supplier merely has to concentrate on achieving its component targets.

The company is looking for industrial partners in automotive, aviation or maritime to implement the software into the companies development process. The preferred framework of a cooperation would be a commercial agreement with technical assistance. The technology will be transferred through consulting, training and software and tailored to specific needs and requirements of the client.
Advantages and Innovations:
Compared to state of art concepts of correlation, with this software companies are now able to determine component targets purely on a component level. Also, targets can be set earlier in the development process as the physical assembly is not necessarily required, which allows companies to save time and money in development.
