La tecnología tiene unos costes bajos de fabricación y permite el análisis rápido de resultados y realizar variaciones paramétricas. Sus campos de aplicación incluyen ensayos de control/identificación para seguridad alimentaria, ensayos de control/identificación para experimentos químicos y ensayos de seguridad/identificación de procesos industriales. Description:
A French research center has developed a new device for quick and accurate identification and authentication of fluids and gases. Each sample will give a characteristic response on the plate which can be compared to the data base values, thus allowing the sample identification.

The device consists in generating a characteristic image of the fluid sample, created according to its deposit on the semiconductor based plate. The surface is scanned with a light (laser), allowing the record of either a photoelectric value or the photogenerated electric charges lifetime. These values are very specific to the sample.

Hence, each liquids and gases can be identified thanks to a photogenerated electric ID, permitting automated identification treatment of high volumes containing multiple and unknown/unprecisely identified liquids and gases.

The surface chemistry of the plate has to be adapted to the analyzed liquid or gas in order to optimize the photoelectric signal.

Application fields of the technology could be :
- Control/identification tests for food security
- Control/identification tests for chemical experiments
- Security/identification tests for industrial processes

The research center is looking for partners (industrial SMEs) ready to get the device through a license agreement or a manufacturing partnership.

Advantages and Innovations:
The most important advantages of this system are:
· An adaption of a well-known method: the characterization process (photoelectric and photogeneration current), tested for electronic components, is adapted for fluids and gases identification
· Low cost manufacturing: the support is adapted but not specific. It is well known and doesn´t require specific developments.
· Rapid analysis, without any contact: it is a non-destructive analysis made on a sample, with the advantage to be interpretated quickly.
· Multi-parametrical highly-reliable control: the results could give a lot of parameters and interpretations. You can have a lot of important information on the product.
· High sensitivity and selectivity: the data are specific and very precise.
· Small sample volume needed: the quantity of analysed product is very small, without over-cost.
· No sample preparation: the process is simple, no need for long and multiple manipulations.
