Seeking medical supplies manufacturer for a new safety improved intravenous (IV) cannula.
Summary:
A Jordanian inventor with expertise in medical supplies has developed a new improved intravenous (IV)-cannula for increased safety and he is looking for a medical supplies manufacturer from Europe interested in licensing agreement.
Description:
Annually there is more than (2,000,000) needle stick injury accident in US and EU only, and these injuries cost more than 10 billion USD in laboratory testing, treatment and compensations for injured medical workers. More than (80,000) nurses and doctors are infected with immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or hepatitis B virus (HBV) annually out of IV needle stick injury.
The new design of IV-cannula has all the features of the conventional IV-cannula with additional advantages that simplify the procedure and eliminate the risks of needle stick injuries, blood back flow contamination, and blood transmitted diseases. The design includes some features as:
· Embedded closed valve system.
· Rigid handling body that work as shielding for retracted needle.
· Manual controlled needle retraction.
· Self-adhesive cannula wings with simpler attaching and removing procedure.
The design consists of two main parts: the main cannula, and a hard plastic body. The hard plastic body is temporally attached to the cannula system and it is utilized for easier and safer handling and more accurate controlled needle insertion that minimize pain and reduce the risk of incorrect insertion incidents. After insertion, the needle is pulled out into a track embedded in the hard body that will lock the needle in place permanently. A safety valve installed in the main cannula is used to control the fluids flow and close the cannula instead of the unreliable method of vane pinching in the conventional procedure, the hard body which will be containing the needle is disconnected from the main cannula and discharge safely, the needle will always be fully shielded by the hard body after discharge and can never protrude.
Currently there are many other attempts to improve on the conventional cannula design but the solution provided supersedes all in simplicity and feasibility, the Jordanian inventor with expertise in medical supplies is looking for a medical supplies manufacturing company from Europe interested in licensing agreement.
Advantages and Innovations:
Advantages of the new design of IV-cannula are:
· Simpler and more controlled procedure
· The design is more practical and easier to handle
· Needs less skill to operate
· 0% contamination
· 0% needle stick injury
· 0% undesirable blood backflow
· 100% control on the fluids in and out of the vein
· Needleless blood sampling
· Ensures the definite lock of the needle upon finishing use
Fully protected medical waste
