Se buscan fabricantes para instalar el sistema en sus motocicletas y establecer acuerdos de licencia y fabricación.


An active change in the motorcycle frame geometry
A Czech university developed mechatronic system of front fork mounting which allows the motorcyclist to actively change the wheelbase, front fork angle and caster during the ride, and thus change the driving expression of the motorcycle. The university is looking for motorcycle producers who would install the system into its own motorcycles and offers license or manufacturing agreement.
A Czech university developed patented mechatronic system of fork mounting. The system is predestined for motorcycles with a standard attachment of the front fork without any intervention in the supporting frame; after a certain modification, it is therefore applicable to most motorcycles.
It consists of the following main parts:
1. Upper fork girder with a guide for the mechanism of fork tilt adjustment;
2. Mechanism for adjusting the fork tilt by motion screws;
3. Hinged bearing for axial displacement;
4. Synchronization gear unit for motion screws;
5. Gear worm wheel;
6. DC motor;
7. Bottom fork girder with a support for the spherical bearing.

The installed electric motor allows the motorcyclist to change the geometry during the ride, continuously between the minimum and maximum values of the front fork geometry. In manual mode, the motorcyclist can change the motorcycle characteristics according to the actual situation, from an easily controllable agile motorcycle (city, mountain roads) to a highly stable machine with a long wheelbase and caster (highways, etc.), using a rocker switch on the handlebars pursuant to his/her requirements. The developed system also includes an autonomous control unit which allows the motorcyclist to operate this system of active geometry change in automatic mode. Switching between the manual and automatic mode is done by the motorcyclist. The control unit includes software that evaluates driving parameters, such as the speed, acceleration, deceleration and tilt of the motorcycle, and uses the data for adjusting the front wheel suspension geometry accordingly. It also includes a safety feature of the entire active change which stops the function of the whole system in the case of complex driving situations and dangerous manoeuvres.

The system increases its versatility; the motorcycle can be better controlled if the wheelbase and caster are shortened, and is more stable at higher speeds if they are extended. The system is applicable to common types of motorcycle frames with a standard attachment of the front fork. It also includes an autonomous control unit that evaluates driving modes and accordingly regulates the geometry; the unit works in both automatic and manual modes.

The partner will modify this system for the chosen type of motorcycle according to the technical specifications, will make all the necessary steps to obtain homologation for use under road traffic conditions and will produce the system and install it on its own motorcycles according to its production and technological capabilities.
