Un centro de investigación checo especializado en procesos de conformado para la producción de tubos sin soldadura ha desarrollado un rodillo de apoyo con nueva forma que se utiliza durante perforaciones utilizando el proceso Mannesmann. La tecnología ha sido desarrollada mediante modelización matemática y pruebas posteriores con simulación numérica y ensayos físicos en un entorno de laboratorio. A Czech research organization dedicated to forming processes in the production of seamless tubes developed a new back up roll shape used during double-stand perforation via the Mannesmann process. It was developed using mathematical modelling and subsequent testing by means of numerical simulation and physical testing in a laboratory environment.

Description:
Czech research organization developed a new shape of the back up roll used during double-stand perforation via the Mannesmann process. In the process of piercing and production of seamless pipes via the Mannesmann piercing process, the new shape of the back up roll can be applied easily. The new shape is the result of mathematical modelling of the piercing process. Testing the new shape of the back up roll does not require any investment. Using mathematical modelling, producers of seamless pipes will be provided new backing roll shapes, which will improve the material creep between the machines. Modifications to the backing roll production software will be necessary.
The organisation is now looking for partners interested in the know-how and offers license agreement.
Advantages and Innovations:
The new shape of the back up roll used in perforation and production of seamless tubes improves the "creep" in between the machines. It leads to reductions in the consumption of electricity during rolling, reductions in fuel consumption of the machines and improvements of internal and external surface properties of the manufactured tubes.
