Una universidad coreana ha desarrollado un chip microfluídico de análisis del factor de contaminación medioambiental y un método de fabricación que incluye las nanopartículas de silicio. La tecnología consta de un chip microfluídico combinado con una aplicación móvil de reconocimiento de imágenes para la detección colorimétrica de una amplia variedad de sustancias químicas peligrosas, como iones de metales pesados y tóxicos ambientales. Esta tecnología puede licenciarse con otros productos para incorporar características que mejoren la baja sensibilidad de un sensor colorimétrico convencional. La universidad busca socios con el fin de establecer acuerdos de comercialización con asistencia técnica o licencia.

Description:
A Korean university has developed the environmental contamination factor analysis microfluidic chip and a manufacturing method thereof comprising the silicon Nano-particle in which the surface area is improved to three dimensional structure since it introduces the silicon Nano-particle within the microfluidic chip in which the pillar pattern is introduced and the silicon Nano-particle is fixed to the pillar pattern and the color change is by the naked eye sensible.

This technology presents a microfluidic chip combined with an image recognizing mobile-app for colorimetric sensing for a wide range of harmful chemicals such as heavy metal ions and environmental toxicants.
3-dimensional surface with high surface area introduced by vertical micron pillars (10-1000 microns in height, and 10-100 microns in diameter) and silicon nanoparticles (50-500 nm in diameter) into microchannels inside the microfluidic chip. The 3-dimensional corrugated structure provides enhanced interaction with analytes and improved color changes at low concentration of analytes, enabling to utilize them to the mobile application with various statistical approaches for an universal use of environmental chips.

This technology is suitable for (but not limited to) the following products/application:
· Portable environmental chip and application
· Establishing ´Environment Map (E-MAP)´
· Mobile application and create advertising earnings
The extension of its application in various fields, by applying a new probe to environmental chip with groceries and medical devices, is currently under consideration.

Advantages and Innovations:
· Increased sensitivity for the colorimetric sensor through the introduction of the 3-dimensional corrugated surface with a high surface area by vertical micron pillars and silicon nanoparticles.
· The device is not-expensive due to the cheap main component (PDMS).
· The system can be easily manipulated by unskilled people due to an automatically controlled analytic system with our cloud-based statistical analysis
