El método de fabricación novedoso garantiza una unión perfecta de las capas y mejora la calidad de la unión. Las cintas consisten en varias capas de aleaciones preparadas mediante enfriamiento rápido utilizando la técnica de fundición de flujo en una rueda rotativa. La tecnología encuentra aplicación en los campos de sensores y actuadores, ingeniería eléctrica, medicina, automoción o química, y específicamente en la fabricación de transformadores eléctricos y sensores. El tipo de acuerdo a alcanzar depende de las necesidades de los socios potenciales y de las vías propuestas para comercializar la tecnología.

Slovak institute developed a technology for preparation of multilayer ribbons based on metal alloys. Innovative manufacturing method ensures seamless joining of layers and enhanced quality of joints. The invention is applicable in the field of actuators and sensors, but also finds applications in electrical engineering, medical, automotive or chemical industry. Type of partnership may vary, according to the partners´ needs and proposed ways to commercialise the technology.
Description:
Technical solution is related to ribbons consisting of several layers of alloys prepared by rapid quenching from the melt using the technique of planar flow casting onto a rotating wheel.
Currently known multilayered and plated metallic materials for electrical engineering, bimetals and multilayered composite materials are prepared by simultaneous cold or hot rolling of separate sheets of materials placed one atop another, by consecutive evaporation or sputtering of thin layers. These techniques usually do not ensure sufficient perfection of the joint between the layers and often do not allow joining of combinations of dissimilar materials with sufficient quality and production of long sheets or ribbons of multilayered materials. In addition, they are energetically and technically demanding.
The proposed technology is applicable primarily in the field of actuators and sensors of various physical properties. Commercial applications include electrical engineering, medical, automotive and chemical industries. Particularly, the invention has perspective application in the production of electrical transformers and sensors. In the first case, multilayer ribbons of the same material could increase the efficiency and reduce the weight while maintaining the required power of existing transformers. By combining two or more different metals with different physical properties, multilayer ribbons are suitable for use as sensors of physical properties, as well as electromechanical, magnetic and thermal actuators for electronics, automotive, aircraft and chemical industry.
Further applications include medical field, especially the detection of small and slow movements, for example throbbing blood vessels and temperature changes of living organisms.

Partners are sought especially for commercialisation of this technology - the institute is interested in technology transfer with industrial companies.
