Description:
The university from Latvia, involved in field of energy consumption and solar panels, has developed a device that can collect solar energy and heat the air and water simultaneously.
Lifetime and efficiency of solar energy collector is limited by the sunrise and sunset. At good weather there are drastic changes in solar radiation, which causes the heated air grade changes. Panels, if heated, have a decrease in the electricity production and, therefore, they must be cooled by a liquid through a closed system and thereby lowering accumulated heat.
The university has developed a collector that heats both air and water. Water is used as a stabilizing function in collector (both air give up its heat to water by heating, and water return the heat by heating the air). Changes in water temperature changes its volume, so it is necessary to use an open system.
University is looking for commercial agreement with technical assistance in order to provide the device to interested parties.
Advantages and Innovations:
The invention relates to the air-heating solar collectors, and it aims to increase the efficiency of air heating by solar energy collector. Essence of the invention is the construction of solar energy collector that integrates both the functions of air heating and water heating solar collectors. The obtained combined equipment has the ability to heat the air without any major heat degree fluctuations due to weather conditions. Besides the possibility of using heated water for technical purposes is provided. Using mounted electrical energy producing solar cells, the equipment can operate autonomously.
