La principal novedad es la capacidad de separar las partículas sólidas recogidas dependiendo de la dirección del viento y clasificar las partículas según la altura mientras se mueven. It´s the first device capable of catching not only displaced particles in suspension or by saltation, but also on the bearing surface. They´re seeking industrial partners for license agreement or technical cooperation agreement.
Description:
The device has been developed by two research group at the University. These researchers work in soil conservation and prevention of wind erosion risk thereof, in order to mitigate the loss of soil productivity by wind. This productivity loss is due to the wind drying effect on the ground, on one side, and the removal of nutrients carrier particles by wind, on the other.

They have patented new collecting solid particles in suspension which includes a separation chamber with different compartments, under a discharge opening. Solidarity to the collector, a plate fin makes the whole turn around a mast, by wind. The discharge opening connects with different containers depending on wind direction at all times. Catchments are made at different heights from the ground level.

Like characterize soil particles moving by wind erosion, it´s possible to do it globally for natural or synthetic, windborne particles. This makes the device applicability not restricted only to agricultural studies, but also related to environmental or healthcare studies.

The Research Team is seeking industrial partners for exploitation of the technology via license agreement and/or technical cooperation in terms of: joint upgrading of technology, sales and marketing of the technology, joint exploitation and technical support to final users. This last task will be carried out by any of the two partners initially. However, it should be taken into consideration the type of support requested.
Advantages and Innovations:
The main innovation of this device is the separation of the solid particles collected depending on the wind direction. The system allows using different mechanical separators, which have an inlet and an outlet of air, located in a vertical plane, and a particle discharge opening in the base. Each separator has several containers in which particles are deposited according to different wind directions.
The device separators may be located at different heights on the same mast. This distribution allows collect particles suspended in air, classifying according to the height at they move, which is related to weight or size. Another new aspect of the design is that it´s the first device capable of raising not only displaced particles in suspension or by saltation, but also on the bearing surface.
