Algunos ejemplos de estos nuevos compuestos incluyen polímeros termoplásticos electroconductores, compuestos termoplásticos con propiedades hidrorrepelentes y autolimpiables, compuestos termoplásticos con rendimiento antimicrobiano, etc. La empresa busca otras compañías con el fin de establecer acuerdos comerciales con asistencia técnica y utilizar los compuestos, o acuerdos de cooperación técnica para adaptar los compuestos a nuevas aplicaciones.

Description:
Thermoplastic Polymers are key building blocks in the development of smart materials for biomedical applications, and many polymers offer unique properties for specific applications. A wide range of materials is available through the use of polymer compounds. The Italian company is able to produce innovative polymer compounds starting from a wide range of thermoplastic Polymers with melting temperature in the range 30°C - 320°C and using several type of fillers and nanofillers , ranging from organo-clay, POSS (polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane), graphene, reduced graphene oxide, silica, carbon nanotube, organically modified layered double hydroxide (LDH), antimicrobial agent and radiopaque fillers.
These polymer compounds are proposed also as innovative calibrated wires for 3D printers based in fused deposition modeling (FDM) technology. Thanks to a filament extruder, the company provides 3D printable filaments with controlled diameter from 0,5 - 3mm Ø and industrial standard quality. Some examples of innovative compounds already developed are: electroconductive thermoplastic polymers with a controlled resistivity in the range from 2 Ohm.cm to 2MOhm.cm; thermoplastic compounds with hydro-repellent and self cleaning properties; thermoplastic compounds with antimicrobial behaviour, others.
The Italian SME is looking for industrial partners interested to establish a commercial agreement with technical assistance and to adopt the polymer compounds or a technical cooperation to adapt the technology to the specific applications.

Advantages and Innovations:
Polymer compounds can be realised with tailor made properties. These compounds can incorporate performance-enhancing fillers, which provide properties not reachable with ordinary neat polymers (e.g., bending stiffness, tensile strength, elongation, torque, biological activity such as antimicrobial properties, electro-thermal conductivity, gas barrier).
Innovative fillers used in polymer compounds are additivated in low amount in order to maintain the rheology of neat polymer.
