El usuario final puede ser una entidad que necesite chapas conformadas en 3D, en pequeñas cantidades o productos individuales. El conformado incremental de chapas se utiliza en la industria de automoción, prototipado rápido, productos sanitarios, etc. El instituto busca usuarios finales y distribuidores con el fin de establecer acuerdos de licencia o fabricación.


Incremental sheet forming with robots: a high-tech solution for one-of-a-kind sheet forming technology
This Hungarian academic research institute is involved in CIM (Computer Integrated Manufacturing) research. An innovative new research area is the application of robots for incrementally shaped sheets (metals or plastic). End-user can be an entity who needs 3D-formed sheets, in small quantities, or single product. The institute looks for end users and reseller partners. They would like a licencing-, or manufacturing agreement for cooperation.
The technology is provided by a well-known innovative research group from Hungary, involved with CIM research. It allows small batch production or even one-of-a-kind production quantity to sheet forming by press machines with dyes. Previous technologies were inconvenient for one-of-a-kind production, due to the very high costs of the dyes. It can also be applied in the pressing machines. By the advent of smart robotics, the incremental sheet forming technology becomes cost-efficient. Incrementally formed sheets can be applied at the car industry, at fast prototype preparations, at health-care products for individualized customers, and other similar use is possible.

Incremental sheet forming has major benefits, as time-to-market, single product manufacturing, or full CAD-CAM solution. Innovative solutions are dominating the present forming technologies worldwide. Sheet forming is considered as a major area, since its application domain is increasing from car (automotive) industry to medical products, along with household products, toy industry. With the advent of home-generated 3D product development tools, individual, one-of-a-kind products are more than welcome.
Sheets can be considered from metal, of from plastic, or from other materials. In the present decade, more and more novel composite or smart materials can be investigated to be applicable materials for smart sheet forming with incremental technology.

Envisaged partner should be market-oriented and technology-transfer oriented company with good local market-knowledge.
The partner ought to have a good experience with sheet forming, should be familiar with the operational aspects of industrial robots, and need to have a good capability to invite end-users to generate market-needs.

Benefits are multi-fold, because the use of this technology will not need expensive dies, nor specific pressing tools. Incremental sheet forming is a high-tech solution for low batch sizes. This means, that one doesn´t need to make dozens of products from the same type, but one-of-a-kind product generation is also economic. Innovative element is the use of one or even more than one robot at the very same time, at the processing of the part of the sheet. Technology may apply 1, 2 or 3 robots, or a mechatronic subsystem with several arms working in harmony. The end-effectors may be tools for mechanical shaping or for additional environment modifiers, like heating a domain by hot air or laser-beam.
