*Problem:
Big computing centres facilities are important centres developing advanced Information Technology applications and services. They manage high-performance scientific computing, networks and web-based services, complex information systems and treatment of large amounts of data. We are induced to think it would be "sterile" and safe. However, it is not so. Even the operators of these computing centers are exposed to noise and particulate pollution. Moreover, processors activities run 24/7, thus needing CPU cooling fans to be always on, consuming a high amount of electricity. All this has a negative impact on the environment, in mainly two big problems:
- safety in the working environment and
- quantity of heat generated by cooling fans.

*Solution:
Working on the precautionary principle, the Italian startup team has invented and tested an innovative "immersion" computer cooling system. The startup has passed three progressive selections in an important accelerator scheme focused on climate impact by cleantech commercialisation.
The invention is now a prototype built with an energy-efficient system that allows users to consume less energy and improve computing power. The prototype has been fully tested and found to be completely safe for environment and human beings. It also participated in international competitions. Compared to other cooling solutions, this one implements a passive cooling regime, so no moving part is required for fluid circulation and no heat exchange or external cooling devices are needed. This provides an additional energy consumption cut and guarantees a nearly complete noise reduction.

*How it works:
The system uses an in-house developed dielectric bio-fluid (natural, non-toxic and biodegradable) as cooling fluid. The computer case is removed, as well as cooling fans; the mechanical hard drive is waterproofed. All computer parts are then fully dived in this fluid, which has greater thermal conductivity and convection properties than those commonly used in other cooling systems. The immersion happens into special containers of recycled material, acting as ultimate heat sinks; they are able to manage heat exchange between the computer and the liquid. The generated, diverted heat may be reused, e.g. to heat the premises.
This way, several servers will: safely connect at the same time, solve increasingly more complex calculations, elaborate more precise algorithms and provide faster responses. This happens in a healthy environment, without fine dusts dispersion or noise.

The innovative solution is suitable for every environment where super computing applies:
- data centers, clusters;
- high-performance computing systems, which are well known for their high energy need;
- healthcare sector, such as an operating room or for mammograms and CAT scans (computer-assisted tomography);
- meteorology, climatology, geophysics, seismology and volcanology centres;
- bio-engineering, fluid dynamics;
- computer graphics;
- extreme gaming.

- it generates a positive impact in the environment, counteracting the negative one of classic cooling systems. To give an idea, energy saved by the system is equivalent to that used by 7 million houses in a year;
- ease of use: the hardware does not require any specific treatment to be immersed into the biofluid;
- high quality and innovation of the fluid: an in-house developed dielectric cooling bio-fluid (natural, non-toxic and biodegradable), with greater thermal conductivity and convection properties if compared to other fluids commonly used;
- the fluid controls the temperature and protects electronic components from dust;
- the solution operates in close-loop mode, without using active devices like pumps, cooling circuits, pipes, etc.;
- its modularity offers great flexibility in use and optimizes space.
