A French SME developing an innovative ticketing system for public transport is looking for a pilot city
Summary:
A French SME specialized in fare collection systems has developed an innovative ticketing solution for public transports in small and medium transportation networks. This new ticketing system is able to provide local authorities a cost effective solution that will enable passengers to validate all types of tickets on board and to travel with their contactless bank card. The SME is looking for a pilot city in Europe which could test the system under a research or technical cooperation agreement
Description:
A French SME specialized in fare collection systems has developed an innovative ticketing solution for public transports in small and medium transportation networks.

As expectations toward transportation networks are increasing (reliability, security, sustainable development), Public Transportation Authorities (PTA) have insufficient budget to address them. Today, in Europe, 27000 small -Y- medium cities are in this case. Also, while buying a ticket is often a barrier for citizens to use public transports, PTA are lacking data and analysis tools to optimize their network.

The SME ambition is to provide these cities - operating an obsolete paper based system - with a modern ticketing system at a disruptive cost-performance. It also aims at developing a system that will enable travelers to easily buy tickets via a smartphone application or an online agency and validate these tickets on-board, whatever the media - NFC bank -Y- transport cards or QR code tickets.
The SME developments are based on an ID-centric concept moving the intelligence from on-board equipment to the back-office. This approach drastically reduces costs.
This solution will be replicable to other mobility domains: car park, bicycle sharing system, etc.

The SME is looking for a pilot city in Europe which could test the system under a technical cooperation agreement or a research cooperation agreement.
Advantages and Innovations:
This system has several advantages:
- Reduction of costs of capital and operational expenditures of the public transportation authorities by moving most of the on-board data processing to the back-office.
- Good level of quality of service and security thanks to a payment by QR code or contactless NFC credit card which deliver a paper ticket.
- Convenience for the user thanks to an online selling system based on a website and a smartphone application
- Efficiency improvement of transportation networks thanks to a decision making tool which collects data.
