Description:
The dynamic viscosity is an important parameter of many solvents and visco-elastic fluids in science and industrial production. It influences the quality of products such as paints, lacquers, polymers, food ingredients etc. and is also a basic parameter for medical analysis e.g. of blood / blood plasma.
There are several measurement methods existing, but they are lacking flexibility when changing the density of the examined medium.
A German family-owned company specialized in the development of electronic components and devices has developed a novel measuring method which allows the direct determination for the dynamic viscosity of liquids and solvents. No density determination before viscosity measurement is necessary, this is the advantage over all other methods.
The new method includes contactless automatic positioning and cleaning of the samples, preconditioning of the probe temperature and a controlled working temperature.
It can be used in a variable measuring range with sample quantities from 0,5 to 1 ml. The method is applicable to Newtonian and non-Newtonian substances.
The novel method is available as a laboratory demonstrator device and has so far been applied to determine the viscosity of blood plasma. But it can also be used to determine / monitor the quality of products, e.g. the relative and specific viscosity of solvents or the limiting viscosity value of viscoelastic fluids.
The company seeks commercial or technical cooperation agreements with industrial users from the chemical sector, where viscosity measurement or monitoring is essential for product quality and/or from the medical sector, who want to improve their diagnostic and therapeutic methods.
With view to commercial agreements the company provides customised product development and adaptation to individual needs, technical advice and support as well as after sale engineering service.
In the frame of a technical cooperation agreement the company is also open for joint product development for new applications in the above mentioned fields. Joint applications for public funding are an option (e.g. bilateral calls, Fast Track to Innovation - FTI).
