Description:
The company was created in 2001 by a group of entrepreneurs and researchers who developed a proprietary droplet and microencapsulation platform for generating new forms of aerosols, emulsions and microparticles with unprecedented size, uniformity, compositional and structural control. It has a portfolio of close to 100 national and international patents and patent applications.

Two of its patents are related to the development of customized aerosols devices.

The first one is an innovative pneumatic technology for very efficient atomization of liquids. In particular, this technology is a flexible and controlled procedure for the production of exceptionally fine droplets and particles.

Salient features of this tecnology are:

- Easily adjustable droplet size through the control of external functional parameters, down to 3 µm
- High energy efficiency
- Low air operational pressure, typically from 0.5 to 7 bar
- Versatility: ability to work with conflicting suspensions and high viscous materials, up to 145.000 cP
- Simple geometry and robust and reliable performance, there is no contact between the aerosol and the nozzle hole, reducing risks of clogging
- Low maintenance
The second aerosol technology patented is an atomization technique based on the generation of a steady jet that breaks up into droplets. The special feature that stands out this technology from other atomization techniques relies on a combination of a specific geometry and hydrodynamic forces.

The patented device consists of a chamber pressurized with a continuous focusing fluid supply. A focused fluid is injected through a capillary feed tube whose extremity opens up in front of a small orifice linking the chamber with the exterior ambient. The focusing fluid stream shapes the fluid meniscus into a cusp giving rise to a micro- or nano-jet which exits the chamber through the orifice; the jet diameter is much smaller than both the feeding tube and the exit orifice diameter, precluding any contact and avoiding clogging. Finally, capillary instability breaks up the stationary jet into homogeneous droplets with sizes significantly below the diameter of the injection needle and the outlet orifice.

Salient features of the technology are:

- Monodispersity
- Low applied pressures (gentle process)
- Low maintenance
- Versatility. This technology exhibits negligible dependency on the fluid properties.
- Allows the production of structured particles (e.g. core-shell, multivesicle, etc.)
- Can generate monodisperse microbubbles

The technology is applicable to several sectors such as: transport (engines), industry (industrial processes), agro-food, pharmaceutics, cosmetics or biotechnology among others.

The company looks for partners related to any of these sectors for different types of collaboration:
