Esta tecnología ecológica permite ahorrar tiempo en el proceso de acabado y controlar fácilmente el sistema de movimiento. También maneja la pieza de trabajo de forma más sencilla que con los equipos de acabado mecánico convencionales. El proceso es ecológico porque no utiliza productos químicos nocivos. El instituto busca socios con el fin de establecer acuerdos de licencia y transferir la tecnología.

Summary:
A Korean research institute specializing in research on industrial technologies has developed a finishing device using electron and ion beam related to finishing process of the surface. This eco-friendly finishing technology enables time-saving of the finishing process and easily controls motion system. This also handles the workpiece simpler than conventional mechanical finishing equipment. The institute is interested in a licensing agreement for its technology transfer.
Description:
In case of mechanical process of polishing or deburring, the oil for cooling and lubricant are so harmful to workers and those substances cause water pollution. Besides, it is difficult to automate the surface finishing process which lowers the production efficiency. In the case of electro-chemical finishing, the electrolyte is very harmful to workers as well.

Therefore, this Korean institute, focusing on three research areas; root technology, manufacturing system technology, and Industry convergence technology, has developed the technology for a finishing apparatus to improve hardness, reduction of surface roughness and the edge radiusing of the surface with none contact the energetic beam surface finishing process. Through the localized surface melting process by the high energetic e-beam, it could save the finishing process time and control with motion system easily.

The composition of the finishing device are as follows;
- A stage : moving and aligning the workpiece
- A chamber : having a vacuum state therein
- An electron beam generation device : source of electron beam
- An ion beam generating device : source of ion beam
- An electron microscope : scanning electron microscopy

This technology can be applied to surface processing fields of general or precision machinery that are synthetic materials, dry process, wet process, washing process and etc.

The global market of the surface processing forms from $14.3 million in 2007 to $35.7 million in 2015. In the case of Korean market, the outlook is about $700 thousand that is 2% of the global market. In the case of dry coating, it is expected to grow 10 fold rapidly compared to the existing market because of the environmental regulation.

For these reasons, this institute would like to find a suitable partner to transfer their technology. Eventually, the institute wants this technology to be applied to various fields in European or non-European countries. Licensing agreement and other types of cooperation are negotiable.

- The automation of surface finishing process becomes simple because of a greater depth of focus which is just few ten millimeters.
