Description:
Common fire extinguishers (hand-held cylindrical pressure vessels containing an agent which can be discharged to extinguish a fire) are typically fitted in buildings at an easily accessible location and are also often fitted to motor vehicles, watercraft, and aircraft as required by law in many country jurisdictions. These fire extinguishers all require manual action in order to discharge the firefighting agent.

A Spanish entrepreneur, inventor and engineer has developed a low cost device that senses fire (via smoke temperature or gas detectors) and that can be attached to conventional fire extinguishers and in case of fire will set off the fire extinguisher automatically.The automatic device for fire suppression is made of a chassis, which comprises a retention system for the extinguishing agent and a control and communication module. The device is attached to a conventional fire extinguisher replacing the hose that normally comes with the extinguisher. The hose of the device has multiple sensors located on its end, such as smoke, temperature or carbon monoxide sensors. These sensors detect the fire outbreak and activate the opening of the fire suppression system.

The device is currently registered with an international PCT patent application and the inventor of this device is interested in a licence agreement (granting of industrial property rights) or another agreement of similar nature from interested companies.
Advantages and Innovations:
The device is especially useful for fire extinguishers located in small spaces such as electrical transformers, electrical panels, engines, etc. where no other automatic system is available (e.g. ceiling sprinklers) and is thus a cost effective and easy to install solution for an automated fire extinguishing system.

The device offers a reliable, affordable and autonomous fire suppression system, which automates the operation of all portable or fixed fire extinguishers, of any size and type, water, powder, co2, etc. and which alerts of all incidents by wireless signal.

Its applications include markets such as the domestic, industrial, nautical, aeronautical, land transportation, and electrical systems markets, amongst others. Several fire brigade organizations have recognized the value of this device.
