Winding processes of yarn are limited because of the speed of the traversing devices. The yarn guidance must be slowed down and accelerated again at each turn. A German university now offers an alternative. The traversing movement is realized via the geometric composition of the grooves or by yarn guidance within the grooves

The invention of the German university describes a traversing device for the lateral laying of a yarn for weft insertion in warp knitting machines. The yarn is guided over a roller with a spiral groove. The point of contact of the yarn on the roller thus performs an oscillating movement in the axial direction. The task of the invention is to create a device to feed a yarn over a partial width of a knitted fabric web that is compact and permits a high working speed. The process is particularly suitable for weft feeding in warp knitting machines.

Industrial partners interested in the application of the invention are sought for license agreements. Partners could be involved in textile production, textile machinery construction or they could be users of warp knitting machines.
Advantages and Innovations:
Thanks to the new process faster processing speeds are achieved than are possible with conventional machinery. This leads to economic advantages and a reduction in process costs.
