Technical cooperation partners sought for common highly resilient lightweight tubes made of veneer
A small German company created an innovative type of lightweight tubes made of veneer that are light, noble and stable at the same time. The tubes, which can be up to six metres in length, can replace conventional materials for interior construction, are lightweight and extremely durable.

Now the company is looking for partners to conclude technical cooperation agreements in order to develop new applications for the product.
The small German company is specialised in the manufacture of innovative natural-based semi-finished products has developed a unique technology to produce tubes made of real wood veneer.

The solution consists in the construction of several layers of wood veneer, which are joined to a ply composite by a special process. Thereby all layers are glued crosswise, so it is possible to resemble a fine plywood under construction. Corresponding to the number and the thickness of the individual layers, a defined wall thickness is produced. In addition, the fibre orientation can be set at an angle, as with other composites too. According to the requirements of the application area, the dimensions and the number of layers can be customised. This ensures the best possible quality and maximum stability under stress.

Further, the tubes can be processed in many different ways. Therefore, almost all traditional wood processing tools can be used. In addition, all normal wood work processes such as sawing, grinding, drilling and varnishing are possible.

The tubes can be produced from different types of wood. Wood from the European area and North America are mainly used. Due to the layer structure, a special type of wood can be used for the last layer. This results in a wide range of designs so that a high degree of optical individualisation can be achieved.

The tubes are available in different sizes and lengths. As a fixed size, the length is offered with 6 m, while the wall thickness can be configured from 1,5 mm to 10 mm. The inner diameter can be selected in increments of 5 mm from 20 mm to 100 mm.

Its usage is possible in many different ways, for example in the construction and design oriented field. This reflects on the extraordinary resilience and the exclusive and spiral design of the tubes. Sample applications include table legs or poles for shelving systems, as well as lightweight elements for sporting and other equipment - so it is applicable absolutely creative and flexible.

Additionally, it is possible before delivery to adapt it perfectly to customers´ needs: Individual cutting to other dimensions (straight or miter), milling (pockets, holes, flanges), the subsequent labeling by different techniques (laser, branding, pad-/screen-printing) and the coating with the desired surface effect (oil/wax, paint).

The company is seeking for industrial partners who are interested to develop new applications with use of the product in terms of technical cooperation agreements.

To ensure sustainability and ecology the innovative veneer composite tubes are developed with the approach to spare natural resources through material efficiency and lightweight construction.

In combination with a specially developed technology, it is possible to save more raw materials and weight compared to a solid wooden spar.

This results in lightweight and highly resilient tubes particularly suitable for constructional tasks. This means that due to the layer-like material construction, the use of precious wood species is extremely reduced, because the main part of the tube is made of standard wood.
