World environment is being destroyed by indiscriminate waste disposal. Many enterprises interested in environmental-friendly technologies have developed innovative technologies to help the world be a cleaner place. One of them¿a PET chemical recycling technology¿ has been newly developed by this Korean company.

The PET waste is usually generated by beverage bottles, film and fibers, and there are two ways of recycling such PET waste: Materials recycle and chemical recycle. Unlike the material recycle method where you can gain small pieces of chips and flakes through pulverization, chemical recycle method allows waste to be used as raw materials. During the material recycling procedures, only the cleaned PET wastes are able to be recycled and dirty/stained ones are commonly incinerated while chemical treatment works for both cleaned and dirty/stained PET wastes.

Then again, chemical decomposition methods of PET are classified into various categories¿ Glycolysis, Methanolysis, Hydrolysis and Ammonolysis. The respective compound is gained by applying each recycling method¿ TPA(terephthalic acid), BHET(Bis(2-Hydroxyethyl) terephthalate) and DMT(Dimethyltryptamine)

**The PET chemical recycling goes through the following processes in order:

1) Pre-treatment process
For stabilized reaction of PET waste, a pre-treatment process is essential.
2) Glycolysis process
This process can produce PET Oligomer for UPR (Unsaturated Polyester Resin) and polyol for PU (Poly Urethane). It is quite a stable and economical process.
3) Purification process
This process mainly increases the degree of purity of produced PET Oligomer and polyol. It saves operation costs and minimizes the amount of secondary waste. Moreover, high value-added products can be created from the produced materials.

The company expects to transfer its technology to overseas markets interested in applying their PET chemical recycling system under technical cooperation and license agreements.
Under license agreement, the potential partner can use the company´s technology (intellectual property) in any market, and the two partners also can transform PET waste into value added products under technical cooperation.

The Korean company is also interested in signing a joint venture agreement with a partner interested in co-develop a local factory. Thus, any enterprise in need of applying PET waste chemical recycling technology to produce raw materials are all welcome for further discussion.
