Description:
The Dutch SME operates in the water, energy and environment sector national and international. The company has a track record of more than 25 years successful problem solving and delivery of sustainable technology in these fields for a wide variety of industries, water boards and municipalities. In 2018 the company was ranked 4th in the Dutch most innovative SME rankings of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce.

Germany has new rules on phosphor in sewage treatment plant (STP). The offered technology will help to reach the new limits and requirements. The company has won a number of STP tenders based on best cost of ownership.

Dutch initiatives like the ´Energy Factory´ have increased the interest for nutrient and energy recovery through selective treatment of waste water treatment plants (WWTP) process streams.

Water is no longer considered a waste product, but treated like a raw material. Phosphate represents an obvious nutrient which can be readily recovered from waste water.

The Dutch SME developed a struvite technology to remove phosphorus from the sludge line. The phosphorus removal with recovery of the phosphate has a two-step approach. With thermophilic digestion or TDH (thermal hydrolysis) more phosphorus is released from the sludge. This phosphorus can be removed from the concentrate after dewatering of the digestate by adding magnesium at a high pH and recovered by the crystal struvite. After the reaction, the struvite is precipitated, dewatered and dried. This product can directly be applied as substitute for agricultural fertilizers. The proccess can be applied on all types of waste water with P levels of > 50mg/L.

From 2004 the company has installed struvite plants in the potato industry and from 2010 on municipal WWTP. Now they have developed a new technology including a pelletizer which has the profit that the struvite is removed in the form of granulates.

The company is looking for a German partner with expertise in wastewater treatment in the municipal sector as a main constructor or as a contractor from specific parts as a complete sludge line.

The Dutch SME will be the technology supplier and can provide also key equipment. The German partner is able to sell the solution as a turn key project to his customers.

The Dutch company is offering a commercial agreement with technical assistance, and will provide all technological-, and technical information, and will assist the partner during construction and site acceptance test (SAT). Furthermore the Dutch company will offer support to the start-up of the biological and chemical processes and additional support when nessecary. Other forms of cooperation could also be possible depending on the partner.
