Description:
A Spanish Research Group has developed a Microphone array with variable configuration supporting a plurality of microphones that can be arranged in different spaced relative positions for pickup stereophonic sound from 360º in a single plane or 3D sound from 360º in any vertical and horizontal direction, allowing a precise localization of the sound source and/or better equalization of registered or reproduced sound, including said microphones an elongated member with a sensitive portion, which captures the sound (Fig 1).

Different support structures for a microphone array used for pickup stereophonic sound or 3D sound are known.
The specifications of each one of these array of microphones require a precise distribution of the microphones and usually a non-adaptable support structure, requiring different support structures for different registering situations.
All this limitations present in the current technology are overcome with the proposed easily adaptable configuration.

Moreover, the sound information captured for the microphones can be instantly transmitted and/or reproduced, preferably using an equalization or by manipulation of said information before producing said transmission and/or reproduction.

This new array support structure with variable configuration comprises (Fig 2):

· Four support arms, each having a first end and a second end, being said support arms connected by said second ends to a central support of the structure, being said first ends spaced, equidistant and coplanar defining a first plane, and being said support arms equally angularly spaced;
· Several microphone supports attached on first ends of the support arms;
· A plurality of microphones having a sensitive portion and an elongated member defining a microphone axis, being said elongated members coupled to said microphone supports.

The array includes a cross-shaped structure defined by four arms radially arranged around a central support, to which each arm is connected by a second end.
All the ends of the four arms are coplanar to each other and define a first plane.
A plurality of microphones, each comprising a sensitive portion usually placed at the end of an elongated member end, are hold by microphone supports.
The distribution of the microphones around the central support provides information of the radial position of the sound source regarding the first plane.
The utilization of two microphones on each first end of each arm provides information of the position of the sound source regarding the microphone positioning plane. The combination of these two spatial information provides tridimensional information of the spatial position of the sound source, which not necessarily should be calculated.
Companies specialized in sound or companies with the need to record and manipulate sound such as audiovisual and event management companies are sought for a license agreement or a commercial agreement with technical assistance.
Advantages and Innovations:
· Provides 3D information of the spatial position of the sound source, which not necessarily should be calculated.
· Structure can be edited in order to reduce or eliminate the sound providing from a concrete region of the surrounding space.
· Microphone array support can be equipped with different types of microphones depending on the circumstances which can be also place in different orientations being adaptable to many situations.
